I agree with you on being a responsibility that we have......but my understanding from our last trip, Ranger Terry asked us to log names, trails, and how many bags we picked up. This gets put under volunteer hours, which helps the park service and credit hours for ONSC. These volunteer hours help keep the trails open! And it's not all about construction.
Correct me if I'm wrong Eric.
If as a group, since we have a hard time getting started anyway, we met at Hunt Camp, registered and those that want to dig holes and move fences, do so. And those that want to pick up trash, like me, do so, then win win. And let's be honest, the roads in to the trails are trashy, the trails are littered with Bud Light cans, and the campsites can be filthy! I'm probably exaggerating but I'm pissed every time I go crawl in URE because of litter.
Rant over
I wasn't trying to belittle your efforts Kenny, that was not my intent at all. I apologize if that's the inference I gave you. The workdays I've been to over the past couple of years have all involved putting up guardrail, fixing drainage, fixing or removing split rail fences, etc.
Logging hours is important, as is picking up trash! Let me propose an addition to the registration process to include something around those lines:
We can strongly advertise the importance of picking up trash at the registration tent. Possibly we can give out trash bags. We can have people bring their trash bags back to group camp to get recorded, then we can send the people and hours to Eric/Darin/USFS to get logged. What do @krzyabncanuck @fourtrax and @alk747triodad think about that system? It would allow hours to be logged without putting labor on our event schedule.
