4. Paul_fj40 - and Henry!

15. LandCruiserPhil - all the way from Scottsdale, AZ!

Did I miss anyone that hangs out here in the SoCal80's section or MUD?

Who's leaving and when for any potential caravan's?

Personally, I'd like to leave sometime Friday morning from South OC to arrive mid-day.

I'm flexible and will meet you in the OC like we did last year.

Just need place and time for the caravan to begin!

We'll be there. I'm workin Thursday night, so I'm not sure what time we're going to be leaving. With that said I'd like to cavarvan so please keep me in the loop. I'll get the final trailer prep done on Sunday and have the kids packed on Wednesday or thirds so we're ready to go.

Yeah. I'm in as well.

This will be my first so I wanted to get ideas from you guys as far as necessities.

Not sure about taking my 80 or my 100. My 80 currently has the RTT.

How are you guys prepping your trucks? By that I mean what are you checking in the engine bay, steering, and underneath to make sure it's good to go.

Brent I would like to check your steering compared to mine. Mine is feeling super soft. I have been driving my 100 and my 80 not so much. Major difference in steering. Not sure if I need some new steering bushings somewhere.

I'm in San Juan Cap. Planning on cruising with the group on Friday if that's cool.

DRV is a mellow event and getting to the site, depending on how deep in Dave sets up would barely qualify needing 4WD to get to camp. As he's said it's before the silt beds, you probably don't even need 4WD. From there, no organized runs in the past. Split Mountain and the trails back there for the most part are pretty mellow too. Getting all the way back to the bottom of Heart Attack Hill can take 4WD if you do that. Basic once over like any trip would be advisable. No problem checking out steering. You still on your original steering dampener or bushings? I've replaced both.

Nathan - Russel and I have PM'd about leaving either Thursday evening or Friday morning. We're pretty open to either and depending on when Friday morning, dropping into Borrego Springs for a nice filling Mexican lunch before heading out to Split Mountain. All open for discussion at this point.

Sounds good.

Btw. Still on og dampener and bushings.

I will be heading out with Tank80(Waldo) and grizzly (Verny) late Thursday night.

Hoping to leave Friday late morning and possibly pre-running some areas on the way in. What time is Dave supposed to setup the flag?

Not sure. Noonish perhaps?

EDIT - Per the AAV site, the flag goes up at 1200.

JohnGalt and I are meeting in Laguna Niguel at the Crown Valley Pkwy exit Costco at 9:00 am Friday morning for anyone wanting to join us. Tentative plan is to go across Ortega Hwy down to Temecula and take the 79. We'll drop down Montezuma Grade into Borrego Springs and have lunch there before heading over Borrego Springs road to Split Mountain.

Post up if you'd like to join us so we know who to expect.

Brent.

I will most likely cruise with you guys.

What's the ETA if we take this route?

11-11:30 arrival in Borrego Springs. Perhaps an hour for lunch and then maybe half an hour to Split Mountain

Last minute check in.

If you guys are still going up Ortega, then I'll meet up with you on the north side of the Ortega exit overpass and the 5.

We should be rolling thru there about 9:15. Ham radio 146.460 or CB channel 26

Cool. Super chill. Fun. Cleaning up the desert event.

Thanks to Brent and Russell for guiding me around the Anza-Borrego desert.

Montezuma pass/drop was cool.

Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well. I had to take off earlier than I wanted. Cruised west on 78 through Julian.

Nice lil' outing.
