Both of my front axles are leaking and I want to get rid of the AutoZone specials which are currently on the car.

Anyone know of dealerships or parts stores offering these with any specials? Also any other easy items to replace while I have the axles out? Thinking of bushings and things like that.

thanks!

You just missed the 25% off deal for SE dealers. You'll want new diff seals, maybe a spare, sometimes people have a hard time with those and bugger one up. You can do the job without taking the hub apart, but up to you on that if you don't know the last time your bearings were repacked/replaced.

I got my axles online from Bell Lexus, both parts are the same left and right, each cost me $380. You'll want to get new hub flange and C clip to pair it with the new axles. Repack the bearings and set the preload correctly as well. Mine were super loose and grease had almost dried out. Everything is going to run you around $1000 in parts and half a day of labor if you're a decent mechanic.

I bought two CV axles from Ourisman (formerly McGeorge) a couple of months ago. I think they were around $350-ish each, with $50 (each) to ship.
I asked Dave Stedman to quote them for me; his price at the time was about $240 each, but shipping was $325 - each.

Get the genuine OEM boots - one set does both sides and includes grease. I have a set of snap rings for the shaft ends, a pair in each thickness. You can just buy the thickest ones and grind them to size, if you want. If you don't have a surface grinder (shame on you!), you can lay them on a flat sharpening stone and grind them that way. That's essentially what a grinder does anyway.

I replaced my suspension bushings while I had everything apart. LMK if you want to do this and I'll loan you my bushing puller set. You'll need it to remove the big bushings.

Drain and refill the front differential while you're in there and replace the differential seals - this is the only time you can reach them. New crush washers and internal hex drain plug need to be on the list.

I changed out my upper and lower ball joints while I was in there but wish I had dealt with my tie rods and upper and lower control arm bushings as well.
