Danny invited me to the trail ride. Wish I could have come. Just wrecked my 80 a week ago Friday. No frame damage just cosmetic thankfully. Send picks of the ride. Looking forward to meeting up once I'm back in working order.

It was a good time. Next time, I'll stay all day.

Yeah - about that.

So we came BACK that way as well. I walked it - I should have known where to go.

I cut over too early - blub blub blub. Water over the hood - engine cuts out. Then water started coming in the truck. Grreeeaatttt.... just what I wanted to do on Sunday, take all the carpet out of my rig.

But that was the least of my worries. After getting me onto dry land, it wouldn't start. Danny pulls my dip stick (yes, the one on the truck) - foamy.

Uh oh. Same thing under the oil cap. s***.

So we tugged it all the way out to one of the main loops, drained all the oil out, and took a look. Fortunately there was no sign of water in the oil. We filled her back up, and she's been fine since. Well, aside from the carpet... I've got to find out where my door seals are failing me.

That really was a good time, however. Thanks for everyone's help (and harassment!) - today proved the point that you do NOT go in Richlaom alone :)

Great pictures
I'm glad that you guys had fun and that no damage was done to the engine. Being to Richloam numerous times in 3 day camping trips with my Samurai and after the first trip removed all the carpet and drain plugs from the floor so it doesn't float as much :D. I'm down on the T-case wrench session if you guys decide to do it. The rear seal (t-case) is leaking bad and the front is about to go too so I would like to do both.

We just have to pin down when on the wrench session. I've never done the transfer case so I'm not sure how long it'll take us to do your and mine and then Justin's front seal they just did his rear seal. Will we need to camp out in one of our yard for the weekend?l

Time is the problem - the rear transfer case isn't so bad IF you have the right snapring pliers. There's like 4 of those damn things, progressivly harder to get out. And not just any pliers will really do, either.

Second problem is if one of the snaprings bends out of shape, you should really replace it. Fortunately with Justin's last time, that wasn't a problem.

I would estimate 2 people 1/2 hour to get the old transfer case (rear) off. Then anywhere from 2-4 hours to remove, clean and replace parts. Another hour to reassemble and put back on.

I've never done a front, however... so I can't give estimates there.

Just pulled all the carpets out.

Yuk.

Remind me not to buy your 80 if its ever up for sale

Yeah, don't worry - it won't be, and they'll be cleaner than they were by the time they go back in!
