The output seal was keepin the e-brakes nice and lubed . So I took it apart and found that the seal is really not the problem . The yoke ( I guess that's what it's called ) on the e-brake drum has deep grooves in it , so a new seal wouldn't help by itself . I ordered a new drum , shoes , hardware and a seal . I'm also waiting on a new carb from Marshall Shepard , I know should've went injected , but I want to keep it as orignal as I can . Plus the carb bolts right on anything esle requires modifications that may or may not work .
I also ordered a hand throttle control and a grill guard . Plus I have to take the front right tire apart cause I ran it too low . I believe it has dried mud between the rim and bead , leaking air around the rim .I'll know for sure when I get the 24 bolts out that hold the rim together .
I should have it up and running by next weekend .

Jerry how's the 3f exchange comin along ?

I do have a tubing bender , you can use it anytime you want .

I have a bran new never been mounted 35x12.50/17 BFG KM2 MT if any of you FJ Crusier guys need one . I also have a pair of PROCOMP front springs and shock assy's . I have the stock upper control arms , springs , shocks for the front and springs ,shocks , upper & lower links for the rear . The stock stuff only has about 5k on it . I no longer have my FJC so this stuff needs a new home . I think I still have the front bumper cover too . If interested let me know .

lol nice i saw ur rig. the time i got done talking to the guy that had the fj. all u guys where heading out. yea wish we had more time. nice rig by the way. u guys didn't stay out there long.

Thanks! I've been enjoying it :D We made it about 45 minutes in and the group was getting bored - too many trails closed that weekend and way too dry for them. They turned back and headed to Bonita Springs and it looks like they had a great time. I was short on time so we stayed at Bear Island another hour or so and then headed back home.

need help

need help please, in So. Fla. Deerfield Pompano area. have a 1971 fj40 trying to restore but dont know how to do it by myself. can anybody tell me the name and number of a person that can help work on these things??? engine work, a little fabrication work, brakes, general stuff. thanks

Well, the head is still in the shop. They are having difficulity finding the right exhaust valves. If nothing gets done by Friday, I'll tell them I'll get them or turn them to Cruiser Dan.

As for the bender, when I go to Ocala to get the head, I'll call before and hope to get the bender.

Looks to be getting time for Richloam, wet, wet, wet...

Yea , the 35's fit good had no problem . I don't know if you seen my FJC but it had just about everything you could put on one . There's some pictures of it at last year GSMTR on MUDD . It's the blue one .

What size dies for the bender? What kind is it? I have a base I made for my JD2 that may fit if you don't already have one and need to borrow. I have 1.75 dies as well.

Good to hear that you will have it back up shortly. 90W and brake shoes don't get along to well, and have fun retorq'n all those bolts!! It is a pain but it sure makes it nice to be able to run really low pressure.

PM sent. A lot of the stuff for these trucks is pretty simple once you jump in. If you have the luxury of time or money it can be a rewarding process. Just remember you can do it right, quick and cheap... If you only pick 2 of the 3.

I won't be able to make it either :frown:

Austin, when are you taking off? Can we push to the weekend of the 30th? Given a little more time for planning, maybe we can make a long weekend of it.

Planning on leaving the 13th, this would be my last weekend to go and actually have time to fix any issues that could arise....I sure hope there are none

Austin , Do you have a mini truck you would like to get rid of ? Now that I don't have the FJC I would like to build a mini truck .

Something real cheap .

haha no...that is about the only toy 4wd i've never had...man they look fun though
