Cliff , Last year I towed my FJ Crusier which wieghts about 6200 lbs . I pulled it with my F150 , I'm guessing the trailer and FJC weight is 8k and I had no trouble . I believe we dropped down to 35 mph going up hwy 111 but it wasn't to bad , alittle nerve racking because it was dark and misting rain . There's only that one real steep part at the begining from what I can remember . Hwy 24 seems like it goes up hill forever but it is alittle better grade . This year I'll have awhole lot lighter load with the 40 . I also purchase a programer for the Ford , not sure if that we'll help or not . But that's my 2 cents for what it's worth .

Yeah... I just put in a Tekonsha P3 in the Tundra. Last thing I want is towing this truck with no brake controller.

1) I'm not towing

2) Does this gobble stuff have anything to do with wild turkey? Cuz if it does, I have a bad feeling about that.

;)

1) Hollywood's not towing...sorry!
2) It'll be wilder than Turkey! (guaranteed)
3) No fat jokes from the Bear!

I've used line blocks and the mechanical type work fine, assuming you have good brakes to start with, which we all should have. Most electric ones don’t have a continuous duty solenoid that can be used for long term locking. Steve has a set up that locks the system when it is de-energized.

The factory parking brake worked well for me for years. About the only problem was when the Xfer case output seal would leak. Right now I prefer the reliance on the simple brake shoe over other options.

It doesn’t make much difference in what I do, stock or mod, it all turns to a rat’s nest and dollar bills blowing away before I’m done. Case in point is the 3FE injection that has been going on for months at a cost of way more than I would save in fuel, and can’t even factor in the labor.

It’s just a love relationship…

How I understand bills blowing away .

Thanks for the input , now I just need to make up my mind on whether to install one or not . I just got done replacing the whole brake system , so I'm not sure if I want to mess with something that's working good now .

Toucher, most any German Dunkl Hefeweizen, Black and Tans, Alaskan Amber, Shiner etc.

When that stuff gets wet it can be pretty slick, you will get the best of both worlds. The light rain keeps the dust down.

Mmmmm Toucher... Haven't had that in a long time .... For no particular reason....

The other benefit to the line lock is it locks at the wheels not the driveshaft. I have had a Jaymar on mine for years and just had to replace it.

On a side note not all tech inspections allow line locks as primary e-brake.

Daily weather update that won't matter:

Tue: 79/58, 40% rain
Wed: 80/60, 20% rain
Thu: 83/62, 20% rain
Fri: 81/62, 10% rain
Sat: 85/63, 0% rain

Looks just about perfect to me...

If we keep it around 55, my wallet will thank you. HAH! Maybe I can get that mythical 17MPG out of this beast....

That's good news! Looking forward to traveling together.

Is someone bringing a chainsaw for firewood? I would but I don't have one...
