Yes, otherwise it wouldn't be comparing apples to apples. 3FE or different engines would be more appropriate in their respective threads.

if you keep up with the "what did you do to your 80 this weekend" thread, you can find my experience with a DIY blue fan clutch modification. I held on to my black Toyota "black hub" clutch for a long time, filled with with 15K to 30K cst fluid over the years. I did this because Tools (RIP Kevin) always sung the black hub's praises.Year-93
Mileage- 230,000
Motor-obd1 1FZ-FE
Head gasket-I believe original, no indication of replacement.
Radiator-plastic tank Toyota replacement, 5-10 years ago.
Thermostat- new Toyota replaced 3000 miles ago.
Coolant-flushed 3000 miles ago, replaced with zerex asian.
Tires-315,75,16
Gears-4.88
Fan clutch- new, un-modified blue hub
Ambient temps locally- 60f (current temps as coolant temps recorded)
Gauge- Auto Meter
Coolant temps- 185-190 driving w/o A/C, 190-195 driving with A/C on.
Idle is consistent 180 w/o, and 185 with A/C
My numbers seem slightly unusual bc my idle temp is always lower than when driving. It always returns to 180 in a few minutes after stopping, even after having the A/C on and temps reach 190-195 driving.
Might add an electric fan to use with the A/C this summer. Also I’m considering putting in some hood vents, I can see a 5-10 degree temp drop from idle temp when the hood is open.
Thank you, I will strongly consider modifying my clutch first.if you keep up with the "what did you do to your 80 this weekend" thread, you can find my experience with a DIY blue fan clutch modification. I've had a spare blue for a few years, did the 95* timing mod and filled with a mix of 20 and 30K cst fluid. Its crazy how well it worked. I share this with you because your 93 is identical to my 94 and the details you mentioned are similar to those I had prior to the blue hub.
After comparing the black vs the blue, the black offers more resistance even with a lighter CST fluid. Naturally, I thought this was an indication the black would outperform the blue hub. I was presently surprised by the results after installing the blue. about 10-15* difference.
