Land Rover imported approximately 1,000 ragtops and 500 hard tops in 1994, 1995
and 1997. Supposedly they skipped 1996 because they were spooling up their automatic transmission production for the 1997 models. Hopefully I've got my facts right and good luck with the sell. :)

Very, very nice and a stand up guy! GLWS

Thanks for the kind words, Bossman.

Hate to sell it, but it's just time to thin the herd a bit! The more I sell, the more I'm getting in a "sell all, start over" mindset!

Well, I thought it was sold yesterday, but an indecisive "buyer" screwed everything up, so it's back on the market.......just thought I'd give it a bump here and elsewhere.

Craigslist Ad:

I never thought I'd ever sell my Defender, but in an effort to "thin the herd" and simplify things, I have decided to sell it.

It's a 1995 Defender 90 with 101,XXX miles on it. I've had it since 2007, and it has been a joy to own. The truck runs great and becomes a source of questions and conversation every time I drive it. I've always liked these trucks, because (a) I really like the way they look, (b) they're incredibly capable off-road, and (c) they're different and really rare around here. That being said, I honestly didn't think people would even notice that this truck was anything other than a standard, run-of-the mill "Jeep." I was wrong! Everyone seems to notice it, and they really get interested in what it is.

As some of you may know, the North American Specification (NAS) Defender 90 was imported to the U.S. only in 1994, 1995, and 1997 (not sure why they skipped 1996), and they were imported in small numbers. I'm not sure how many the British sent us, but it evidently was a small number (you rarely see one, at least around here). This '95 model came from the factory with a small-displacement (3.9L) all-aluminum V8 engine, and I've ALWAYS used synthetic oil in it. The truck body is built, predominantly, with aluminum body panels. They have a coil spring suspension (you wouldn't believe how well this 90" wheelbase vehicle rides!), and unlike most off-road vehicles of this type, it has a fully-integrated roll cage system that ties into the main frame. This creates a much sturdier safety cage system for the truck.

I could go on about the construction and capability of this truck, but all most people really understand is that it's rare and ULTRA cool!

This truck comes with a Surrey Top (basically, a full-length bikini top) and a BRAND NEW OEM Bestop-brand convertible top still in the unopened box. Also, the BFGoodrich A/T KO tires have less than 5,000 miles on them, and the truck is equipped with an ARB bull bar front bumper/brush guard and 10,000 lb (brand new) winch!

NOTE: I'm WANTING to thin the collection of cars I currently have, but I don't HAVE to. Be advised that these trucks are very susceptible to rust in their non-aluminum parts, and often times, the rust creates a structural problem (NOT good!) This is a southern truck, and from what I can tell, it's always been a southern truck. Other than extremely minimal surface rust on the undercarriage, mine is about as rust free as you'll ever find one.
