I'm starting to lean towards Mike's original BIOR front bumper I don't understand why the loops are slanted forward, I'm sure there's a reason, can anyone enlighten me?

I can only guess that it was designed that way to push things under and around. Definitely don't want to impact an object such as a deer and have it come over the top into the windscreen. I could be wrong, but it makes sense in my mind.

It looks like it started out as a stinger - a long hoop at a steeper angle, to keep the truck from nosing into a crevasse (think pre-runners, tundra trucks, etc.) or over on steep descents. But to be effective, they have to be longer than the hoop on the BIOR.

Some of the bumpers for the 100 Series are adapted from other trucks, e.g. Land Rovers, (why the hoops, grille guards don't match the angles of the headlights and grille of the 100). And/or the bumper for the 100 has to work with the LX with the grille attached to the hood... a clearance thing

Hi, moving back into the mountains from the flatlands (Colorado Springs), and I want a front bumper for my 2000 LX470 that primarily will be to prevent injury to the car and occupants in the unlikely event that I hit a deer or small elk. Not that I want to, but my rule has always been brake, but do not swerve for animals. It has served me well for many years and I've only hit and killed one deer. I've had friends seriously injured who swerved and hit a culvert. Not going to do that. I do light off roading so I don't really need a bumper for that. I like the Kavik aluminum bumper but am concerned it might not be strong enough? I have the OME 1.5" medium lift on my truck with OEM shocks, would prefer not to have to change that, but would if necessary. I'm also looking at the ARB bumper (not the Sahara) and Mike's bumper at BIOR

Thanks!

@chuckscap .... here is the link to the post on the ARB bumper saving an LC in a deer strike situation....

Thanks all, gotta get CINC House (my wife) to approve the bumper but she's a sweety. I'll talk to Mike a BIOR and Slee, it's so nice to be a 2 hour or so drive from both of them.
