Decided to go In-Cab? Now What?

I am trying to figure out how to wire an in-cab remote system for my XRC8. I have the newer version and from reading other forums with this new version you must wire it before the wires enter the solenoid. There are three wires one green, one green & yellow and one brown. Then I have a toggle with safety cover and a center off toggle that will control winch power and the in and out controls respectively. I am using an old ext. cord for the wire and it has whit green and black. The safety toggle has two posts and the center off toggle has three. I know I need to put a hot into the safety toggle, connect the two, and connect to the in and out controls. My question is how do I go about doing this? I'm sorry for the FNG type question and thanks for any advice.

The solenoid connections and wire colors will be different, obviously. Wiring it by that diagram will also kill power to the controller socket unless the master switch is on.

There should be a jumper wire from the main positive cable attachment to the controller socket, 2 wires from the controller socket to the solenoids, and possibly a ground from the controller socket. You'd want to remove the jumper from the solenoid and connect it to the 12v positive from the dash switch, and then splice in the wires from your (on)-off-(on) switch- one will be 'In', the other 'Out'. On the switches, you'd just need to hook the master switch to a 12v source, and connect the output of it to the center of the In-Out switch and the wire to the controller socket.

Does your winch not have a wired remote? I'm not familiar with that specific winch is the reason I ask. If it does, have you REALLY thought about this in-cab control scenario? You're in a winching situation and you have to steer, watch what's going on outside your window, possibly work the gas/clutch/brake pedal to help your winch out a bit, AND hunch over to your dash and try to work switches to make the winch do what needs done. I cannot possibly imagine this being easier/more efficient than just holding the wired remote in one hand and taking care of business.
