Wow, things have changed. I have been gone from the forum for a while and working on it off and on., mostly off. Decided it was finally time to get it going again. Went to order parts and decided to see if there were options and now I am a little lost. Studs or bolts? Head Gasket, which one? Looking at threads should I just buy what is available when I need it? Parts will be be back from the shop in a couple of weeks need to get the rest of the parts. I miss Cdan!

www.partsouq.com

Buy Toyota parts only for that job.

You may have to buy the "kit" parts individually, but they are available.

OK, I found the spot to put in my VIN, now if they have the parts.

I use Partsouq to find the part numbers becuse they have great diagrams.

Then I buy from either McGeorge Toyota or Partsouq, depending on price and availability. Sometimes, I need to buy parts from my local Toyota dealership because no one ships the parts (such as a hood liner)

Bolts available in Dubai and cheaper enough to source there. Does the gasket kits come in and out of stock, is this just a bad day? Should I wait and see? Going to be several days to weeks before I am ready to put it back together. What is the deal on the metal Head gaskets? Thanks!!

I wouldnt use an MLS unless youre going to send the head out and block out to be decked and to the correct rms, and even then for a stock engine you’d be better off with the oem hg.

Lots of threads on here to tell you what part numbers you need.

Edit:

The above is obviously more than you need for just the head gasket but may be worth snagging and diving a little deeper while the heads off and its easy to get to things.

I just did the HG on my fz80 I'd get the kit. You're gonna save yourself a lot of pain. All the valve seals and tons of other seals/gaskets to go with it.

I got head bolts from the stealership. They weren't cheap but easily available.

Everything shipped and got here in less than a week.

Well boys, thank you very much that is all done! I did not consider getting the whole kit, just the head kit. I can get the head only but it is the same price, no reason to do that. I should have everything I know I need, now if I could just figure out what I am going to screw up.

1 week from Partsouq, it all looks like it is all there. Now if the injectors and head will come back... Lots to do, oil and water pump, alternator and starter, gas tank clean not to mention getting the manifolds decarboned and the deck ready. Do I have time for this...yes I do.

How much was the kit?
I bought the $258 one, did not see the cheaper one till I ordered. I also got the starter contacts, alternator brushes head bolts and washers, $471 total. And it came in 5 days. Ordered Monday received Friday.

Forgot without pics it did not happen... Intakes cleaned up pretty good. Mine blew at the number 1. I checked for exhaust gasses the week before, passed with no issues. When it blew it was all at once. Pistons actually look pretty good to me. Edit: I used oven cleaner on the intake, don't think I would do that again, cleaned up easy but left the aluminum with dark spots. It will be fine but wish I had tried the pressure wash by itself.

Dumb question, Is there any issues with timing the block? I want to spin the engine to get at 2345 pistons and tidy up 1 and 6. When I am done just put back at TDC and orient the sprocket correctly? I know to wire up the chain to keep it out of the abyss. Am I missing anything?
