No problem. I've got the teqnique down now. Going to take them out and see how it goes.

If you are going to use an angle finder at all, make sure the truck sits level or string line center to center from front to rear axle. Then "zero" the degree indicator and start from there.

for 31" tires I toe in 1/4" inside tire to inside of tire.
for 33" I toe in 3/8"
for 35" toe in 1/2.

X2 on 4 degrees!!!

Bent tie rod. water in one tire. wheel bearing. knuckle bearing. faulty tie rod end. bent rim. tires out of balance. mud/snow stuck in the rim. seized brake caliper.

Yes I have had plenty of wobbles in my cruiser.

These are all situations where I have had bad death wobble to deal with.

I also forgot to mention that I have experienced factory balancing rubber patches fall off randomly inside the tire. That happened on my brothers super swampers.

Have you had your tires balanced? You need to know what your caster angle is b4 changing anything. Have you removed your shocks to check to see if one of them has lost charge? Have someone turn the wheel a bit left and right while it's on the ground and check for steering play. What was your trunion bearing pre load set at?

I had a major problem like this a few years ago. I have a Mojave 4" with 33x12.5s on a 62. I tried a lot of different approaches including mounting Go Pro mounts all over under neath to try and see where this wobble started. Supposedly the Castor is built into the springs on this lift according to the designers, so I changed tie rods, steering damper... Was beating my brain out. Nothing had happened to make it occur, all of the sudden at about 35 mph, holy cow... it would almost toss people out. You could speed through it, which was scary as hell. But then you had to come back through it on deceleration.

I finally changed all the front end spring bushings. They were just EVER so slightly egged out in the outside portion of the bolt hole. Voila...

Only had 2 years on those bushings. Coming up on another two years on the current set so.... probably will be doing that job again.

I'm going to put the shims back the way they were. Bought an angle gauge and I'll check that as well. Bushings are really the only thing I've not changed although the lift isn't that old. Everything related to the steering is new including tires. I've just spent over $20k on converting to diesel and upgrading turbos to G Turbo from Australia, custom air box and intercooler. The death wobble is really pissing my investment off Lol. It's amazing how many posts on the subject there are on the internet and not a solution.

First off your rig is amazing, and thanks for creating this post.

Im having the exact same issue with my 88FJ62 with the same shackle reversal you have. Started with replacing stabilizer, no go... Rebuilt front axel, no go.... rotated and balanced tires with alignment, no go... new tie rod ends and new rebuilt power steering gear box, no go...... my shims are fat end to the rear like yours.... Only thing I haven't done is new tires, springs or spring bushings. Any luck update ???

I replaced all bushings on the springs and shackles and had a local spring shop bend me new U bolts front and rear. They are way better quality then anything that comes in the lift kits BTW. My guess is that major culprit was the u bolts. U can’t tighten them enough and screw torque specs I tightened these new ones with the power of Thor. I drive my 60 daily and every few weeks I get under and give everything a re-check. All good, no wobble!
