So I brought my 08 in for its 60k service today and asked them about "recharging" my KDSS system. I've recently added Radflo coilovers and followed the KDSS recalibration (http://www.suspensionsolutions.co.z...nstructions/landcruiser_kdss_instructions.pdf). However, I'm still noticing about a 3/4 inch difference lean to the right even after adjusting the coilovers.

Anyway, when I asked the service manager about a KDSS recalibration and recharging, they were like... "what is KDSS"? They finally had to track down their most sr. technician and he was worried about touching the system, saying "he would knock it out of speck", and wouldn't touch it.

Is it common for Toyota service departments to have such a miserable understanding of the vehcicles they sell? :bang:

Yes it, unfortunately , is.

I was scheduling a service appointment once at my local dealership. I told the Toyota service rep that I had an '08 Land Cruiser and she asked me, "Is that a Subaru?" At least your Toyota dealer knows who makes the LC.

It's a fairly simple hydraulic system, but folks are usually afraid of the unfamiliar. Also, KDSS is not something they will service frequently, if ever, at most dealers... so there is little financial gain for the service department to want to learn about it. If soomething fails, which will eventually happen, well, the profit made on the parts required to repair the system will make it worthwhile.

The lean may be correctable by opening the valves and slightly jacking one side of the vehicle, then closing the valves, then lowering. It might not be a bad idea to see how this affects the corner weighting... I am installing a KDSS system on my Tundra, and will finally be completing it this spring.... much good will come from that project, so sit tight. :D

Thanks guys, great video link aMiR904

definetly find a god service guy!! I had one guy rip my cv boots during a TSB recall and not tell me. I would even say travel far to find a good service dept. It should be gettng more familiar to them because of the 4 runners out there but you don't want to be the learning vehicle.

The newest gen 4runner trail has KDSS...shouldn't be an issue for a Toyota dealership. They got all the info on their computer system.

That being said, the first time I took my LC in they thought it was a lifted Highlander!?
