My FJ 60 horn has stopped working. Absolutely no evidence of triggering or activation. Have not found any useful threads in my search of Mud, but so far my investigation has begun with checking the switches in the steering wheel and they all make contact. Not sure where to go next without taking the steering column apart. Nothing untoward in the engine bay, but I haven't successfully tracked back from the horns as of yet. Looking for some advice. Thanks

Fuse? Relay?

Pull the steering wheel & replace these 2 parts.

The new pin is on the left, old on the right…you can see how worn down the pin is.

The fuse and relay sounds good (obviously), but I'll have to go on a search for those. Need to find an info source on their location. Thanks McVicker. Will seek out those parts.

My bet is you will need the parts I suggested, but it’s very easy to pull the steering wheel & access them before purchase.

You do not need to have a steering wheel puller in order to pull the the wheel. Very easy w/o.

Fuse? Relay?
Fuse was easy (and fine). The relay should be interesting because the engine bay has very little resemblance to stock, but I suppose I can trace it back from the horns.

was the horn working before?
my WAG is to take @John McVicker advice and change the brush and contact plate
but as stated above, remove the steering wheel and ground the brush, that should make the horn activate to make sure that is the issue

Did you try the 22 shell casing trick? Look on youtube...Jonas has a video on it...Mize adventures

Yes it was working. For a brief time it was intermittently working, then not at all.

I admit I did see that although I sorta dismissed it. Will look that up.

See post # 4 & solve your problem…long term fix…10 years + and about $20.
