DD/weekend wheeler poll?

I posted this poll in the 40 section to help me figure out what I should do about a 4wd work truck/play toy. Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions or rigs that are close by that I might be interested in.

Buy and build an 80.

I would, but I think the 80's are a little bulky, and look to much like the grocery getter rigs out there. Please don't start posting pictures of rigs that are hardcore, I mean by the time I spend 12-16K on a decent rig, I will only be able to afford to put meats on it. If I could lift it, put armor on it and large tires I would do that. But it is still a big heavy rig.

Have you ever driven an 80? Wheeled one? I would say try it before you toss them out. You can get an 80 cheaper now than ever before, throw 33s to 35s on them and wheel with little else (armor helps).

Just test it out before you throw it out...

So you guys think that I should buy an 80 put some 35's on it and some sliders and bumpers and it will wheel better than the runner, or use it as my primary transportation over buying a tacoma? Most of the nice 80's that I have seen in the local classifieds have been 12-13k. What is a fair price to get one with about 100k miles?

I paid $11k for mine two years ago with 120 something miles. Sold my wifes 80 for $9k last year with 169k miles.

they are coming down in price.... check the uc for sale thread. 97, 135k miles, 6000 bux. One last month sold for 6700 for 131k miles, f/ctr/r lockers, new drivers leather, navy blue 96. and another member got his recently here in NC w/ 140k on a 96, lockers and all for 5500.

just read the thread above. it looks like a lot of truck for dd responsibilities; not that its not a sweet runner. What would your requirements for the tacoma be??? dead set on the squinty eyed 01-04's. There was a nice gen 3 4 runner in VA recently w/ OME and arb bumper for 9k, think it was a 99.
