Is the address of the meeting spot?

Google Maps shows that address is approximately 1 mile East of where we want to meet. Look on a map and identify where HWY 257 (Ottobine Road) intersects with HWY 613 (Clover Hill Road/Briery Branch Road). That intersection is where the Ottobine Country Store is located. Can't miss it--it's the only commercial structure--a fuel station and big parking lot, on the corner of the intersection.

I've gone there two times, and used different routes. Easiest route, IMO, is to exit I-81 southbound onto HWY 11 north of Harrisonburg, come into town and go west on HWY 33, then left (south) on 613. 613 is the only "slow" portion, due to curves, but it's short and you arrive at the Country Store at the bottom of a large hill.

I don't know any of you guys, but I have met Felix. I'd love to get the kids out and meet some new people. I'm planning on joining in and will be coming from Alexandria; not sure about breakfast at this point. I hope none of you guys mind if my Jeep buddy tags along. We're planning on making a trip up to Rausch Creek in late March, but haven't done anything but talk about it yet.

That you, Trey? So far, I'm in for this trip. The 80 hasn't been wheeled, yet, and I think its time has come.

Not sure if I'll make it early enough for breakfast or just the trail ride.

Any thought about which trails in GWNF will be run? What's open these days? I haven't been down there since they closed Salt Shed. Dictum open?

We're going to run what I think is called Waggy's Creek Trail. The trail head is about 1-2 miles from the Ottobine Country Store. It runs generally west-southwest, IIRC. We'll go over a couple of open hilltops (with great views) including Flagpole Knob, and come out vicinity of Reddish Hill or Reddish Knob, at the top of Briery Branch Road (HWY 257, I think). The dirt portion of the trail is right at 15 miles in length. Going slow to enjoy the scenery, and occasional stops for the hill-top views, I estimate it to be 4 to 4.5 hours on the trail.

Yep, that's me, Felix. Looks like I'll finally be getting out with you guys.

is this correct?

Just making sure that this is the country store that you're describing. I'm thinking that it is correct, but want to double check.

Looks like Tom, Bart and I will be down for breakfast, you want to catch a ride for the trail.

hey guys, being new, i dont want to overstep my minimal bounds. what is the policy for inviting others on clcc rides. i am newly associated with another local group, CORE(capitol off road enthusiast) am and wondering about inviting others on rides. i think there is one cruiser in this group, but it is mostly Rubicons with a couple chevy's. just curious.

i wasn't thinking for this one, but just in general.

Hey Parker,

I can't speak to the customs and policies regarding normal outings, but the opening post make this sound like an open/unofficial event:

" It's not an official event (TLCA or CLCC) ....Who: open invitation..."

Sorry I can't join you guys, always up to finding a new trail.

that is the correct store....

I don't know if I will be in for a ride or not, but if anyone gets into trouble, let me know as I'm only a few miles (towards the mountains) from the country store....

Hey BK was wondering if you where going to join in, hows the house and sweet garage coming, bet you go out and roll around on the garage floor just for fun.

I may try to catch a ride if there is a spare seat.
I'm trying to get the cruiser back into the garage.
were y'all stoping at Mom's Country Kitchenfor B'fast?
I'll revive the other thread Breakfast 2/26

The images are the correct place, the Ottobine Country Store.

We are meeting at Mom's Country Kitchen, Front Royal, 8:30-ish for breakfast.

I don't mind whomever comes---as long as they play nice and their behavior is family friendly.

we've moved in to the house, but the garage still needs lots of organization...I found some free kitchen cabinets and need to hang them. Then I need to organize the wood scraps that I kept for either a work bench or shelving...ugh.

i dont think i can make breakfast, but what time is everyone getting to the county store?

I'm going to try to make this trip. This is a great run if you have never done it.

Still meeting at ~1130 at the country store? Will I be alright with my stock 29" street tires?

You will be fine. This trail is not a problem for a stock truck unless there's snow or ice.

We haven't got jack for snow on this side of the valley and it's supposed to be pretty warm this week.
