UPDATED: on 25 FEB 2011

I'm going on a day-trip trail ride, Saturday, February 26th.

You are welcome to come with me. It's not an official event (TLCA or CLCC).

Who: open invitation
What: breakfast and trail ride
When: 26 February, meet at 8:30-9:00am
Where: Mom's Country Kitchen, 470 S. Commerce Ave., Front Royal
We'll meet for breakfast and then caravan to the Ottobine Country Store, at the intersection of SR 613 and SR 257.
Why: casual 1/2 day wheelin' trip through the GWNF.

Notes:
If you cannot join for breakfast, but want to meet for the trail ride, then go directly to the Ottobine Country Store, at the intersection of SR 613 and SR 257 in Ottobine, VA (about 6 miles S-SW of Harrisonburg). We'll meet there at noon. The Ottobine Country Store has gas, diesel, propane, groceries, and ice.
Likewise, if you cannot join for the trail ride, come on out for breakfast.
Test for Cam: When you read this, send me a PM!

day tripper

Tracy thanks for taking the lead on this, sounds like fun to me. I do not really have a preference to either date, unless the later date would increase the chances of the 60 coming out to play. And i will be glad to help you with anything you need to get it ready. To bad we can't get our inspections from Josh anymore.

do you have to register a truck like you do an ATV at Tasker's Gap. I was told vehicles need to register $20 a year I think. (3rd hand info.)

Chris

Maybe a little closer than further for a day trip. Pick the day

Good idea, Bart--we could tack a day trip on after the CLCC breakfast.

If we were to do that, then Peter's Mill/Taskers Gap would be the place to go (it is slightly closer, and would save 30-min to 1-hour travel time).

These trails have a $5 per day fee. I've not seen an "annual" or "monthly" fee schedule. The daily permit can be bought at several gas stations in the Edinburg/Woodstock area. Its very easy.

The one thing that I need to check, is to call the Forest Service office and determine whether they close these trails seasonally. I checked the web-page and it was not clear.

$5 ain't bad at all.

Chris

Could this be Chris' coming out party

For his 40 (don't bet on it) or for Chris admiting his true sexual orientation?

No proble not. was thinking of taking the ATV out. It doesn't need as much work to move.

Chris

Its hard to work on the cruiser these days its dark and cramped in this closet.

I wanna, wanna, wanna, wanna, go!!!!!!! I gota hurry on getting my extra fuel cans set up. Am I trail ready? Gosh so much to think about....

Absolutely!

Hey, you may be able to handle Tasker's Gap. They take Porsche Cayennes up there! :flipoff2:

So, seriously, has anyone been to the Peter's Mill area recently? Last time I was there it wasn't much more than a gravel road.

An added bonus would be if we got some snow by then!
