I lead day rides with the local 4x4 club, New Mexico 4 Wheelers.
I am posting upcoming ride here, seeing if anyone wants to join me for this ride I am leading in July

1. July 9, 2023, SUNDAY
Meeting in Cuba, NM at the Circle K Shell Gas Station at 9 am. Gas up there. Our group will leave at 9:30 am and drive up on Hwy 96 and turn north into the Jemez mountains and explore Forest roads in this area. Plan to be back to pavement about 5 pm.
Bring food and drinks, Need good off road tires, and recovery points front and back. Some forest roads are overgrown so some branches may rub your 4x4. We will air down on dirt and air back up on pavement. Easy to moderate difficulty. Could be dry or rainy and wet.

2 August 20, 2023, SUNDAY
This ride has been canceled. Another commitment has come up on this date!!

NM4W rides are open to the public, so anyone can come on these rides. NM4W is a all brands 4x4 club. If you are interested in joining NM4W , just ask me . You don't have to join the club to go on their rides.
On the NM4W website, www.nm4w.org , Under, Calendar, monthly rides are posted.
You can join me for all or part of the day.
Any questions, just ask.
If you want to go, let me know, so I can be looking for you .
Get out of town and use your low range gear box. Find new areas to wheel and camp.

Sounds great! I put the August ride on my calendar.

But does this mean I have to get out the crappy CB radio? 🤣

Fair warning to anyone going, Jeff is right about the over growth. Just to the South of that area around Blue Bird Mesa are narrow trails with lots of trees that will scratch you most of the way.

NM4W does not use CB radios anymore. They switched to GMRS at the first of this year. Many members have their HAM radio license.,too. I have both.

I'm happy to hear that. My CB handheld has become a NOAA receiver only.

We'll try to make the August 20th run. I won't be ready by July 9th.

I still have my CB wired into both of my 4x4's, but not using them anymore. They are both wired directly to my battery and , so far, too much trouble to pull all that wiring out.

Interested in the July ride.

This is one of my favorite areas.
I've been there only a few times in the summer. Scout n I may have to try to make one of these dates
Thank you for the heads up Jeff!

July Day Ride, July 9, 2023, in the Northern Jemez is still a GO! I have About 7-8, 4x4's confirmed for this ride. Always room for more.
Toyotas, Jeeps, Nissans, Lexus, signed up, so far.
Weather looks good. Cooler at 8000ft+.
Exploratory routes on MVUM forest roads.
Get out of the HOT city and explore the high mountains. These FR's have light vehicle travel, compared to the south Jemez.
Any questions, just ask.

Are you ok if I cross-post on the FB page?

I don't use facebook, but I am okay with that. I am not sure how I would know who might be showing up for this ride from the FB post. I only posted this ride on NMHDC and NM4W.

I would advertise it on the FB page but send them here to get the details since all official comms are done here.

So, why are you awake at 0530? Get some sheep!

Umm, make that sleep.

So, why are you awake at 0530?
That pesky job expects me to show up most days and I have chores in the morning, occasionally stalled by visits to MUD. Also, the dog and my bladder wake me up at 5 most mornings.

I have to cancel this August 20th ride. Another commitment has come up on this date . Sorry

Had a great day in this part of the Jemez mts, SFNF. 7-9-23, low 80's for temps, at 8000ft + elevation.
Saw all new areas, one with a great view of Abiquiu Lake and another great view of the Chama River canyon, too.
Explored some Mesas and canyons. good roads and low range roads.
Saw only one other vehicle all day and one camper. Many more FR's to explore.
You should have been there, :D
