Wanted Dash throttle pull - 72' 40 (1 Viewer)

Looking for a throttle pull for my 72' dash. It's actually going to act as a "dummy" since I don't have need for the throttle function, so, really I just need the pull and chrome backplate. Would prefer to have one that looks like this -

Those are pretty rare in the US to use as a dummy. The one pictured has a bracket that bolts to the bottom of the dash. 9/69 the throttle was discontinued in the US market and plug was in it place on the dash. Dash mounted throttle cable hooked to carburettor linkage. Bottom of the dash cable ran to the accelerator pedal. Possible there were an option with the PTO winch.only owned pre 9/69 that had PTO winches. Those the throttle was standard on all FJ40s.

Good info. Sounds like it may be an optimistic ask. Indeed mine would ideally be the dash-mounted pull as opposed to the style with the lower bracket but I’m open to making my own mod, as necessary. Also, open to other “dummy” or “plug” options but don’t want it to look too obvious.

where exactly does this dash-mounted hand-throttle cable then end-up at the end ?


photos of its end point will lead me to posting the correct 1972 HAND THROTTLE cable you require , since 72 is a split production year on 2 very different set-ups and styles ...

Since I’m using it as a “dummy” it doesnt have a useful end so I can be flexible. I prefer the look of one in my first photo above but realize even that one isn’t a perfect fit since it’s made to mount below the dash. Just looking for a throttle pull to fill the spot on the dash. I can modify the other end to abandon it. Thanks!

Considering that Matt is THE source for reconstructing chopped cables (he did a first class job reconstructing one for me) the remnant of a factory cable you're looking for would be worth a premium...to him. Just saying.
