I did not see information on 100 Series Dash Cracks. I am on my second 100 and see no evidence of dash pad cracking issues like many other vehicles experience. I am guessing the 100 dash pad is designed to handle intense desert heat for harsh climates therefore average U.S. owners will never experience the multiple dash cracks that many other vehicles do? I have considered a soft pad to through in there on sunny days in the parking lot but do I need one?

19 years here and it still looks brand new, so I doubt you'll have anything to worry about

Yes, Amazing fact that I have never seen a cracked dash due to sun exposure. Which all vehicles were like this. Yet another reason to drive the finest vehicle on earth. I think if I could only have two vehicles forever it would be a Lexus LS and a Land Cruiser. I am convinced that these two vehicles are the worlds finest in every way.

Ive found almost all toyota/lexus dash pads from '90s - mid '00s to be of excellent quality. Both of my '99 4Runner's dashes were of similar material and never had any fading, cracking, or discoloration. Same goes for the tacoma of that generation and I would assume most other models too.

Why can't toyota/lexus go back to this style dash? My friends 2nd gen Tacoma's dash has fading and cracking... You can just tell that the new dashes are made of lesser quality.

^^^Agree on the lesser quality. The 2nd gen Lexus RX has a recall for free replacement on the dash pad. Mine has just started to crack. They replaced the leaking headlights last year for free. At least they stand behind their product so far.

The LC dash pad and glass headlights still look new.

I have a cracked dash pad from SoCal sun exposure. Granted, the car sat on a parking lot in exposed sun for 3 years. I've been trying to figure out how to repair it or replace it, but I've heard replacing it is an extremely laborious task. Any recommendations? It's lifting and cracking where the air vents for the windshield defrost meet the pad.
