Going to look at a smashed 470 tmrw with cash in hand. Need my facts in hand. What can I reasonably be expected to spend?

Front bumper
Hood
Passenger fender
Lights on pass side
18" 470 rim
New airbox and air tube MAF sensor area.
Rad support
Radiator

Truck doesn't run due to MAF damage.

Basically a telephone pole to the passenger headlight. Airbags intact. Minor if any frame damage. Ill need paint but that's not factored in my equation yet, or the tow truck , or frame shop inspection. Just a reasonable estimate. I dont have a parts list of what I need so I can't call CDan or Cparts.net yet. Just need a ballpark. Thanks in advance.

No idea, but if the rim is damaged, you may be looking at suspension/steering parts that are not on your list, as well as tires. Airbags deploy? If anyone else on here could ballpark it, I'm sure a photo would help them. Don't forget too the diminished value when it comes time to sell it, due to the accident record.

Airbags didn't deploy. No suspension damage. Pothole blew tire/bent rim sending the vehicle to the right up the curb into pole. No airbags. Impact was under 10mph. Truck abet through a fence on way to pole slowing it down before impact. Lesson. Dont let your 16yr old drive your 470 unless he's listed on policy.

Wow! That looks more than just a hit to a pole a 10 mph. I would wait to gather more cash and look for something else at least with less damage.there is more inventory out there. Of course that's just my two cents. Good luck with your decision.

So 4500 is too much? I'm not a body man but I plan to try if I take this on. The owner said 3 grand to fix I said 6. Just trying to work him over better. He said the kid was going 35 hit the pothole went up curb hit went through a fence. Police and kid estimated maybe 10 upon impact. It's all subjective. I just want a sweet deal not a black hole of money.

I would price the parts you know for sure need replacing and then go from there. As some have posted before in other threads, factory parts for these vehicles are quite pricey. I'm sure you could source some junkyard parts to reduce the cost, but there's no guarantee.

This is just to get it back whole and running, doesn't mean you won't have other problems show up or need other maintenance right off the bat. It could easily turn into a black hole of money.....

.....most of these turn into a black hole of money, anyway, but you want to spend money on preventative maintenance and upgrades.

All that said, I'm sure there is a price that could be reasonable, provided the mileage, records, and overall general condition are what you want...

That about sums it up. Guy priced all new parts plus a shop labor. I'm on mud he's not. Hoping to be resourceful for sure. I have a 470 and a 80 already. I will trade barter sell etc to make it work. Minus the damage it's a one owner dealer maintained Lexus. That's worth something. We just need to bridge the gap. The guy has more money than brains. He understands its a total loss. He already drove to Kentucky to replace it. Hes trying to get something out of the truck. He knows there is a niche market for cruisers and wants someone like me to have as opposed to all the "flippers" calling him. Car has a clean title and he wants the next owner to know the truth. Not lipstick a pig.

Have a body shop write you an estimate. I wouldn't be surprised if the front frame rails were pushed over also. Easy fix, but it's common for frame movement with that type of reinforcement bar damage. Also to be done right you need to replace that side apron. Expect $5k plus easily on an estimate.

Gotta be at least a 12-15 thousand dollar repair.

I spent over 3k fixing mine without needing the wheel, radiator or fender. Bent the core support and fender back then replaced bumper, air box, hood, headlights and grill with junkyard parts.

Pro estimate was close to 5k for me. Check the condenser. It's not cheap either.

Even from you? I'm sure a body shop orders from you or Cparts.net anyways lol. He got an estimate of 6 by pictures and emailing a couple shops. That's estimate I'm sure that would be more like 8 or 9. So what do I do Dan? It's a superb vehicle minus the obvious. In my mind I have 3k as absolute most I would give him. That's why I'm getting the community opinion.

I can't supply Lexus-specific components. Those have to come from a Lexus dealer with an inflated sale price.

On the phone only seeing pictures I said it's going to cost me 9 grand he said 6 but really I was thinking 3-4. We gotta figure a paint job too. Separate from the accident it has that gray paint that fades. I'm not planning to resell it. I will make a wheeler out of it if I have to Frankenstein it or something. I think you're 3 grand probably adds to 5 grand in this truck bit extra damage than you.

Bingo. You just revealed what I need to know. It's not like going to the scrap yard and finding f150 parts. I'm going to offer him 2k take it or leave it.

Diy Frankenstein 5k sounds about right. My hood was already the right color and a bluecruiser gave me a deal on the arb bumper. Those low bids are likely using aftermarket parts. Thin metal and plastic lights with metal clips that corrode in 3 months.

^^ Careful...it seems you're the one wanting to buy it. ;)

We really need more info. Model year (a 2007 is a different story than a 1998 - though with an 18" wheel, must be newer), mileage, repair history, rust, your intended use, how long you plan to keep, etc. Then, I would add +50% to any "photo" or "email" estimate provided. A dicey proposition at best...

He bought it for 13 grand 9 months ago and didn't put full coverage cause it was his 3rd car. That's why I said more money than brains.

This is more like one man's trash is another man's treasure. Maybe. Possibly. Just don't need fools gold.
