Tom I remember coming across a pic you posted of your view of the harbour. From memory it looked like you live very close to my uncle but I can't find your pic again to check. Do you have the link?

I can't see the sea from our house so I suspect that pic was taken from a mates place. (We're on the southern side of Mt Kau Kau and there's another hill between us and the harbour.)

This is what we see from our lounge Dale:


And if you go over the horizon there you see these views of the harbour (depending on the time of day etc):


Is your new radiator a good match for the original? ..ie. Same no. of rows (or more) and same width/height dimensions etc?

Seems hard to imagine any blockage occuring within the pump. (I'd have thought that if debris became dislodged it would be more likely to end up on top of the tubes in your new radiator.)

The new radiator is a perfect match. I ran out of time to figure out what has gone wrong. I worked on the battery system in my 80 yesterday and had to fly back to work today so I will get back on to the 47 when I get back in 4 weeks.

Yep. Those pics look like they're taken from around my workmate Alan's place in Ngauranga or perhaps from nearby Kaiwharawhara.

Tell you what ... Your HJ47 wouldn't be overheating if it was over here.. It's damned FREEZING!

Fitted the steel bar while I was home. Looks a lot better than the silver ally bar that it came with

I've been busy working on the ute over the last few days. Here is some of the progress so far

New wheels & tyres

I really need to find a nice steel tray. The more I look at this one the more I hate it.

I replaced the water pump & viscous coupler which has fixed my cooling problem. To be on the safe side I took my new radiator in to be tested as it had been sitting in a workshop for a number of years.

Picked up this nice new OEM battery tray & clamp

Also new OEM washer bottle, overflow bottle, washer nozzle & aftermarket washer pump.

I had some fluid dripping down on the floor under the clutch peddle. It was a brown watery sludge. Turned out it was coming from the clutch master cylinder.

Flushed out all the old fluid which looked nothing like brake fluid. Installed this new aftermarket part. Not sure why I didn't check availability of an OEM part.

Hay mate don't throw the stock aisin master cylinder out have it resleved with stainless for a life long spare.

Those new parts sure look nice but I reckon I could get that old battery tray looking just like the brand new one with a bit of cleaning time and fresh paint and very little $$$$s..

What did you do for the mechanism that connects your new clutch master to your clutch pedal? Did a new one come with the cylinder or did you have to clean up that old rusty one?

She'll be much more reliable now I'm sure (with what you've done there on the clutch and cooling system).

The clutch feels nice & the temp is sitting where it should. The tray & bottles only went in because they were cheap (and I get lazy sometimes). The nozzle & pump were needed. The new master cylinder was complete, all I had to reuse was the pin that attaches it to the peddle.

Well after hours of frustration and hundreds of dollars worth of parts the stupid super glow system is going. I just dropped the ute off at the auto sparky to have a manual glow system fitted.

I had the super glow changed to manual glow today. Wish I did it in the beginning. I just works, simple. Up the road from the auto sparky was an exhaust shop so while there I got the exhaust replaced too. What a difference that has made. She purrs like a kitten now.

Exhaust exits out the side in front of the rear wheel now instead of out the back
