Last night I lost all my oil pressure, and my oil (85 FJ60). Back half of the right side of the block is covered with it, from below the valve cover to the oil pan. It looks like it may have either come from the cylinder head oil gallery plug by the #5 spark plug or the back of the oil cooler . There's no obvious oil contamination in the coolant, so I don't think the two mixed. I may have to fill the oil up and start it to locate the leak.
I seem to remember a post about a repair to the gallery plug, but searches couldn't locate it. Can someone re-post or direct me to it?

this does happen...there are a couple of writeup on how to fix. Looked, but couldn't find them (it's late, and I'm beat). Try searching for "weep hole." Also, look on birfield.com. I think that Mark Watley did a simple writeup on how to fix. I did it on my 60 about 6 months ago, and it was pretty straightforward. The most difficult part was just sweating about screwing up while drilling/taping.

I searched the forums for "weep hole", no luck. (No luck on Birfield.com either). Tech links have two entries with photos of the plug (yep, that's the one), but no text. I seem to remember something about pulling a headbolt to catch the chips when drilling and tapping. Is that what you did? What size drill and tap? Can anyone else offer suggestions?

You can pull the head bolt out. Follow the oil passage back. I use a right angle air drill. I cant remember what size plug I tapt it to. I will take a look. Very dificult to get to and see hwat you are doing. I am sure this has been written up on the 3FE list.

I printed out the instructions, and they are at home in a file. I'll be home later today, and will retype type them into a message if nobody else finds the info on line. The instructions are short, and easy to follow. It's got the drill size, tap size, etc.

I use 1/8" pipe plugs on all my rebuilds.

I can't see that link from work, so, sorry if this is redundant. The part number for the original plug is 90334-07009 if that helps any.
