Recently my front cv boots started making those awful snap crackle pop noises when I turn the wheel all the way right or left; what should I begin to check first?

Do the boots show any sign of leakage? Are you moving forward/reverse when you hear the noise? Or only when in Park? If you are sure the noise is coming from the CV's then it probably will require a complete new CV axle assembly(s).

I here them most whem backing out of a parking spot or making a u turn; usually at slow speed. I have the diff drop so I had a little leakage in the beggining, but overall the cv boots look in pretty good condition. I have about 134K miles on them now.

Spressomon is right- If your cv's are clicking when you turn, that usually means they are bad and need to be replaced- not the boot, the whole cv.

Thank you both for the input, Im do for front brakes soon and still have my original front rotors. I will probably go for the whole enchilada and place new rotors, break pads, cv's and boots!
any idea what I can expect to pay for the CV's?

Anywhere from $330 - $450 each depending on where you buy them from (P/N 43430-60040). That price range is for a new OEM replacement.

Thanks for the price range! its always good to know what your up against.
