This may be old news for some, but I finally got the modified Tuffy into the 62.

WHY - Sloppy old B&M shifter on the floor for my GM trans, needed an armrest
WHAT - New Tuffy console with an addition, plus an Art Carr/Winters shifter
HOW - Some space age material fabbed on to the front of the Tuffy after the front was cut off
WHERE - Stockton, home of great Cruisers
WHO - Don /fc187
WHEN - Recently

Completed box and final install with some other stuff - tablet mount and cup holders. Its better than expected...fits perfectly and a ton of space inside. Twice the usable space as a stock Tuffy console.

Wow. That's pretty cool. Guess there are advantages of an automatic after all. ;-) j/k

Seriously - unique and creative. Was the technical mod on the gear selector complicated?

Sweeeet!!

Wow....badass....

High praise given the sources - I know your rigs from stalking your build threads.

Its all 'cause of Don. I just had an idea, he made it real. First image below is the stock shifter as received, second a rough sketch of how Don adjusted the cable housing downward. I think its a matter of loosening the bolts that secure the housing to the shifter. The cable runs through the floor and attaches to the trans.

I'm in the sloppy B&M shifter club. I like this a lot. I have been looking at Lokar shifters. Can we get a better shot of the cup holders/front?

Ram Sam Tab

The mount and tablet holder are shown below. Both from RAM via Amazon. Mine is a Samsung Tab 10.1 with Verizon 4G. Bolts to the floor, braced tight against the cup holder for stability. We cut off the front of the piece where it mounts to the floor, so that it sits flat on the floor and the upright pipe is straight up.

how hard to reach the transfer case shifter now?

I like it....looks like a worthwhile mod for the automatic folks.

That's been my experience....for those of us ill equipped to deal with the need for operator hand/eye coordination and three pedals...."what's that thing on the left side of the floor?.....":)

Thanks! Yes, SOR carpet kit. Looks good, seems to be wearing well. Two things to be aware of. The fabric doesnt go as far up the firewall as I would like. You can see original pad/insulation above the edge of the SOR fabric. Ive added some black rubber and you cannot tell.

Also, the material runs when you try to drill through to mount shifter boot plate, console, hole for shifter cable, etc.. Solution - take a soldering iron and melt the fabric where you want to drill, otherwise the fabric will catch on the bit and you end up with a tear. Easy to deal with if you plan ahead and take a little care.
