That's the "official" Toyota one. If you are talking about near your right armrest, you'll have to search aftermarket.

Yep. See pic above...assuming you have a 1995-1997 model. Seeing as you're new here, I won't throw the fj vs fzj differences at ya. :D

thanks

new to the posting deal. very helpful. have had the lx for 3 years. pops got a97 cruiser in maine. yes, it's a 97. :whoops:

Link to that cupholder? My wife just puts her Nalgene on top of the e-brake and occasionally forgets to tighten the lid--> spillage.

Any problems using the e-brake with that on there? Thanks. Any cup holder has to be big enough for a Nalgene bottle or else its wasted in my opinion. Thanks

How the heck do you use the e-brake?

Here's my answer to the FJ80's inadequate cupholder dilema...

Nothing wrong with not having lockers.

My 91' never had that nice option you FZJ guys have :flipoff2:

Cupholder $12.99
www.ultimatecupholders.com (although I purchased mine from www.griotsgarage.com a long time ago for triple that price when it was new to market) :censor:

12v accessory plug ~$5
Kmart (Walmart?) - same crap

Home made sheetmetal plate - Priceless :flipoff2:

I made a template out of cardboard, then with the final version, went to Home Depot, bought fairly thick sheetmetal and traced it out, cut , then fold. Some flat black paint, and everyone (whose never owned a LC) thinks its OEM. I did use sheetmetel screws and s/m nuts (flat/square tab with hole in the middle) to mount cup holders to the back of the console for strongest support.

When the cup holders are closed, you can fold down the rear seats and there's no interference. Simpy awesome. HOWEVER, if you accidentally fold the seats with them open, the cupholders tend to not works as well (they still work only they're not as tight and snappy).

Have fun.

word...

Wilee... dude... market that s***e... like that one a lot!

Nice job Wile e. I have two of those cup holders sitting on my table at home. To the sheetmetal challenged, how do you get such nice folds in the sheet metal? Also how did you take care of the lack of cup holders up front?

Thx for the kudo's all.

Frankly I don't remember how I did the bends. I just used std garage tools (5" bench vise, vise-grips, etc). I did however tack weld the corners so they didn't come apart but that may not be necessary (just a nice to have).

I'm cupless in the front. I use the std cupholder behind the e-brake and the cubby in the center console. Since the oem cupholder is $55+ and only has a small (can size) opening I decided not to go that route. I bought two extra cupholders to use in my other vehicle but never put it in so I may figure out how to fit at least one of them some up front of the LC.

A suggestion on the sheet metal.
Find a small friendly heating company and offer to exchange a beer (or other) for the metal. Most companys throw that size of metal away as scrap and the cut and bend is a 2 minute job. Or you could visit me in Idaho.

Here is a picture of how Derek Lee installed one. I was also thinking of intalling on on the passanger side shifter console. Any other ideas?

Don't you hit the lid to the console when you are driving?

These all look like really great ideas. Not having an "real" cupholder has always been a problem for me, too. I need a cup holder that will hold a good ol' Sonic Route 44 Vanilla Dr. Pepper.

You might be a redneck if ... your family physician's name is Dr. Pepper!
;p ;p

I don't know because I haen't mounted one there yet. I was thinking the same as you plus I think just having the lid open would bother me.

The 100 series have 2 cup holders in the 1st level of the center console like that and you have to leave the lid up to use them. I really don't like having that lid open while driving, in fact it drives me nuts when it is open.
