Auxilary DC outlets

I was looking at your pictures of your cup holders and also noticed that you put 12 volt outlets access to the second and third rows...I was wondering if you could comment on that. Maybe post a thread on how you did it, where you tapped in at, if you used in-line fuses and where the wire ran. Anyways just hoping that you could share the knowledge. thanks

Barrypt5.

For both 12vdc outlets (2nd and 3rd row seats), I ran them separately but directly to the battery with an in-line fuse for each. The fuses are located just on the outside of the battery box. I did remove some panels and scuff plates when routing the wires from the 3rd row seating area and I loosened the center console to route those wires. Both wires went under the dash and through the firewall through a slit i made in a rubber grommet near the steering column. The main reason I went directly to the battery was I wanted to bypass the ignition/accessory line. When my son played his gameboy using the normal cigarrete lighter, I would stop the car, pull out the key (not knowing he was playing), and he would "lose his game". So now he uses the other two i've added instead. Problem solved.

montana cruiser. that is a pretty slick set up on the cup holder. I try to get my wife to use the e brake on vehicles, she never did since she's from North Dakota, "it's flat - where's it going to roll to?". then her car rolled into a $275 condo mailbox when we lived in Cali. now she uses the e brake.

I know it looks like it would be ackward to use the e-brake, but it really isnt, push the button with one had and pull up with the other. I dont use the e-brake all that often anyhow since the 80 is an auto and I never really park on any severe grades. So the "inconvience" of using the ebrake the 3% of the time I need it is nothing considering I have an accessible, useful cupholder capable of holding more then a baby bottle the other 97% of the time. Anyhow, it works for me, surprised others dont have them there
