I've seen some debate on the forum as to the correct part # CSF radiator to get for an FJ62. I can say that Part No. 2709 is NOT the right number.

Here are photos of the CSF No. 2709 I received today - they match the drawing on CSF's site here.

The filler neck is on the opposite side from stock and would require you to route the overflow tank tube 180deg. Same for the driver side transmission cooler line - it's facing driver's side when it should be facing passenger side. And ideally it's not a male piece anyway but a threaded female to accept the stock Toyota fitting.

I will update this post if I get a 2708 - but now tempted to with the Performance Radiator. Anyone think it's worth the extra $100?

CSF is a high-quality radiator. Is the 2709 the correct for your year? 2708 is for '88 only, I think (and now for FJ60s)...

As I understand it, CSF only makes one radiator for both the 60 and 62 and that is the 2708. The year range means nothing, as the 2708 fits all 60's and 62's. The 2708 has a built in trans cooler that a 60 radiator did not originally have.
Also be careful if you decide to use the built in trans cooler, as one person here lost his trans because the trans cooler tube was defective and it dumped coolant into his trans.

Zack is correct it fits 60 and 62 s,but I've had no problems with the lower cooler or their rads. Also no problems with Performance either. Mike

According to the CSF application catalog, 2708 fits 80-87 FJ60 and 1988 FJ62. 2709 Fits 89-90 62s. Don't know the size difference or if they've super'd one rad for all, now, but the 2708 is a 4-core. 2709 is a 3-core.

I'm not sure what the 2709 is supposed to fit, unless Toyota rerouted some lines when they used the 3FE in early versions of the FJ80. The drawing of the 2708 on CSF's site matches the construction of the FJ62 radiator. It also mentions "automatic transmission" in the description and, according to others, has the transmission cooler built in.

I saw the post about the defective barrier between coolant and ATF, which gives me pause, but, many others also attest to its quality. I think partsgeek has the part #'s correct (though their price is a bit steep).

I'll go with the 2708 and report back.

How did the 2708 work?

I just ordered a 2709 and got the same thing you did with the trans cooler nipples aimed the wrong way.

The 2708 works perfect! As noted above, CSF only makes one radiator for both 60 and 62's, and that is the 2708.

Given the current price of the CSF radiator, I would be tempted to try a Mishimoto radiator with a lifetime warranty.

I have a CSF in my rig. I've used Mishimoto's in other cars ive owned. If i could do it again, i'd get the Mishimoto. Very nice stuff.

Thanks. I should have researched here first instead of trusting RA's menu.

I bought a CSF 2708 from eBay (quite inexpensive) and it fit perfectly and was correct for my '89 FJ62. It has been installed for over a year and is working as it should - no issues.

I see that eBay prices have gone up considerably since I bought mine.
