Copper State Cruisers Monthly Phoenix Meeting - Notes
Friday, January 17, 2020
Tempe, AZ

"It's 2020, we should all have clear vision by now, right???" (direct quote dad-joke from Mr. LCP himself :lol::rolleyes:)

First Time Guests

- Kevin was a guest brought by @Highway Romping. He drives a 2018 white 4Runner that he's starting to mod. Thanks for stopping by and you're always welcome!

- Brian @BigRogers79 Just moved here from DFW area and was part of a Toyota club from that area (Lone Star Land Cruisers). He used to have a 60 series, a couple 4runners, now he's got a silver LX470 on which he's deleted the AHC system, added front bumper, onboard air, etc. and will be continuing to mod out in the near future, he's probably going to go with the Slee rear bumper. Thanks for stopping by! Thanks for stopping by and you're always welcome!

New Members

- @Classic95 Wes New CSC Member #550 Wes Munch Just moved here from Chicago a few months ago. He drives a dark gray 2011 4Runner-- welcome to the club, Wes!

- @TheGrrrrr New Member - 2013 Silver LC Matt has a silver 2013 200 series Land Cruiser that he recently picked up. He would have preferred a different color but this one he couldn't pass up because it was in the exact shape he wanted, good Toyota service history, not used for towing, one-owner vehicle, low mileage, etc. Funny story he actually found it in Sacramento through CarMax (whaaat) and only had to pay $200 to ship it here to take a look at it. He totally doesn't regret ditching his Range Rover for this beauty! Welcome to the club, Matt!

- @MrMcgoo New CSC member #524 Gary McGeough Gary has a white 1986 FJ60. He's originally from New York but has been out here about 10 years. His 60 has no rust and is in good shape. Welcome to the club, Gary!

- Brian New CSC Member #549 has a tan 1993 FJ80 that he picked up in Chino Valley. It already had bumpers and OME shocks when he bought it, so he's been working a lot on baselining the vehicle (rebuilt axles, etc.) Welcome to the club, Brian!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

After many years as CSC's fearless leader, @LandCruiserPhil has decided it's time for him to take a step back and hand off the reins of the Presidency. CSC began in 2004 and there was a ton of enthusiasm for the club at that time, lots of people were donating money to help the club grow and CSC took off and took off strong. Then we went through a stage when we weren't doing a whole lot, the membership started to drop off, the activity started to drop off, so at that time LCP ruffled some feathers and said we need to do more, be more active (this was in 2011). At that time he took over and started doing Run of the Month and the monthly meetings, which he said he'd keep doing until someone else wanted to do it. Well it's continued that way for 6-7 years but recently he's realized that this club has started to turn back to what it was before he took over, and Phil thinks that is partially due to his not pushing along this club the way he used to and the way it should be done, which he regrets. We all joined this club to get involved, not to get a sticker on our truck. He reached out to @brices123 to discuss these concerns and ask for advice and help because he feels he can't lead anymore in the way this club needs. @brices123 has been an active member of this club for many years and has a lot of enthusiasm for the Land Cruiser / Toyota offroad community, he's got great business and leadership skills, and the desire to see this club grow and be successful, and last year Brice and a couple other members went through the process to officially register CSC as an actual non-profit corporation and set up a club bank account, etc. After much discussion, Brice has agreed to accept the role as the club's new fearless leader as we move on into 2020 and push CSC back to it's former glory, thank you @brices123 ! :clap::cool:

THANK YOU @LandCruiserPhil FOR YOUR MANY YEARS AS OUR FEARLESS LEADER AND WE HOPE YOU'RE STILL GOING TO BE AROUND TO LET US KNOW EXACTLY THE PROPER WAY TO OWN A TOYOTA ;):rofl::grinpimp:
:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::cheers::cheers:

@brices123 shared some of his vision for this club as we move forward into 2020. He hopes that as a club we can start being more active and give something back to the community. The process has been started to adopt 2 trails (working with TRAL on this), Mt. Ord and Red Creek. We have to figure out what else we want to do as a club and how we can do it, so we want input from the members. We need to get back to having monthly runs and activities for club members (clinics, family fun days at the lake or at Seven Springs, swap meet, etc.). Brice reported on the year end financials for the club: as of December 31, 2019 the club had $2,200 in net income for the year and now has around $4,200 in total assets on the balance sheet, including cash and swag inventory. If others have been involved with other clubs in the past we would welcome other ideas and experiences from how those organizations got involved and maintained member activity. Brice encouraged members to get involved by posting up activity ideas on Mud, volunteering to lead ROTMs, etc.
