If you're just replacing the fuel filter you shouldn't need to bleed the pump though. I first make sure the engine is warm when I change the fuel filter then I just crack the bleeder on the fuel filter mounting and pump the bleeder pump until I get straight fuel. Fire up the engine. If it doesn't run smooothly I crack (NO MORE loose than that 'cause it discharges fuel at up to 1700psi) the injection pipes one at a time and let the air bleed out there. Once the last injector pipe is bled it should be fine.
