Hi folks,

The SVC on the side of my fuel pump has a slow leak. It was pushing diesel up inside the jacketing of the wires all the way to the ECU, dripping into the passenger footwell, and causing a bunch of nonsensical engine and abs codes. Very wierd issue to diagnose, but thankfully I found an old thread about it. I was able to remove the rubber gasket inside the electrical connector, so now it just drips from there instead of being pushed up the wires. A good temporary solution.

Anyway, this denso part (096360-0580) is not easy to track down. Toyota doesn't sell it anymore. I've only found it in stock on a couple of websites that will ship to me in Canada, and the price is astronomical, over $500 CAD with shipping. Aliexpress has it for a decent price, but I don't really trust that it's a genuine denso part.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it will be much appreciated.

Hi reeo, hope you could find a decent replacement part. I'm looking for one too. Where did you find it? The problem is, that there are many at different prices, but most of them do not look genuine original denso to me. Would appreciate your help. Greetings

I bought on ebay from FinditParts:

I think it's a real denso part. Came in the branded sealed box and everything. The seller is highly rated and appears to be legit, but I can't say for certain. Like I said, Toyota does not sell the part individually, so I don't know where this seller is sourcing them from.

It wasn't cheap, I think I ended up paying about $380 CAD after shipping. Installing it fixed the leak and the electrical issues I mentioned. It also solved an issue I was chasing for a while with air getting into the fuel system, causing an 'oscillating' noise on acceleration.

Thank you so much reeo for the fast answer. Very helpful. Just checked it out. It is even 20 bucks cheaper on their own website USD 239.00 in the USA. And they confirmed by email, that it is original Denso.

Just to finish this up... It is actually called Timing Control Valve, but seller sell it at different names (Part No. 096360-0580). It is the one underneath the pump on the back side. It throws a P1220 if it is not working correctly. It solved my problem and the engine is not nocking anymore and no intermittent check engine light.

I had to unscrew the upper pump mounting bracket (2 screws 14 mm). The mounting plate has 5 screws, which 2 are easy to get and 3 are behind the fuel lines. But i could get them without taking the fuel lines away. Then there is another bracket which goes from the engine block to the pump (lower part of the pump). 2 screws (17mm) at the block and one screw to the mounting plate. The screw at the mounting plate has to be removed, then loosen the two screws at the engine and remove one, so you can tilt the bracket away from the pump. Without that, you can not remove the TCV.

There is not much space to work and having a variety of tools with different lengths and angles helps. But I finally managed to get it done. Thanks to all who have been active. Hope this helps somebody.
