I've had the sending unit go out a year ago or so and have been wondering how well they got things back together in there. So my question is when you fill up your tank when the gas light is on and it says "cruising range 0", how many gallons can you get in? Mine will take right at 20... meaning there is about 4 gallons still in the tank.

mine takes about 20-22 gallons after taking it down to the gaslight(I think one time I got 23 in her), I was kinda shocked the first time because I was expecting it to take a bit more than that... But I read somewhere that this tank is "empty" with about 4 or so gallons in the bottom, just what I heard...

At 16 I just put in 18.5 gallons

When cruising range hits 0, I usually put in 20-21 gallons. The most I've ever put in is 23.2.

When my low fuel light comes on, and cruising range is zero, there are still about 4 gallons of fuel left in the tank.

I have also noticed that the low fuel light doesn't come on until the range reads zero

Sorry, guys.
After reading this again, it just didn't sound right. Here is what I meant to say:

The most I have ever put in (long after the cruising range hit 0) was 23.2

My cruising range and fuel gauge are complete and absolute garbage. MPG since last fill up never ever matches cruising range left. My fuel gauge indicator at 3/4s of a tank, actually has less than half a tank. My fuel light generally comes on with a good 4-5 gallons left.
Mind you I have a 36 gallon tank

Where are you that you have that large of a tank?

Seems like almost anywhere but the USA. I rented a 200 in Australia a few years back and was surprised at the gas pump when it just kept going and going. I can't remember exactly how much gas it took, but it seems like it was well over 100 liters (not yet on empty). I just remember it was well more than my 200's gas tank holds. I'd love to have that range here on my own 200 without the hassle of adding an aux tank.

I live in Latin America. I dont think I would survive on a US spec tank. Even with 36 gallons Im filling up once a week.

I fill up twice a week most weeks, I would love to have a 36 gallon tank!!!

At 7 bucks a gallon of shoddy fuel that you never really know for sure if it has water in it. Because the tanker stopped half way to the station and off loaded 1/4 of his load to some pirate stop and replaced it with water. Driving anywhere hurts. (yeah my 7th grade English teacher would execute me if she saw that I wrote that)
