we launch kayaks and john boats there but I would suppose that north beach would be the closest public boat launch
I'm looking to put a kayak in and wet a line.

No not at all, I have a few yaks that i don't mind bringing down for anyone that wants to go for a quick paddle. Ill be honest I don't kayak the bay a lot mainly because I primarily am fishing for bass and snakehead but the other reason is the weather can change on the bay very quicky. Normally if I'm out is stay relatively close to shore

This event should be right around the time when the cownose stingrays will be breeding and if you get a chance to see a school its quite a sight to see. they school by the thousands and will stay very close to shore. Ive been out on the kayak during this and its quite amazing to see

They are cool to see for sure, unfortunately the F'r's destroy the crab population, far more than we do with our crab feasts... 🦀 🦀

Gonna kick off Summer right and do something the club hasn't done before. Ill be hosting the first 🦀🦀🦀 CLCC Cruisers and Crabs 🦀🦀🦀 in conjunction with Calvert Crabs and Seafood, June 14th in southern MD

LOCATION: 2460 S Shore Dr. Port Republic MD 20676
TIME: 10-whenever

This will be a family friendly event hosted at my neighborhoods private beach, we can do overflow park at my home if needed. Realistically I think we can fit 20 or so trucks at the beach parking lot. There is a port-a-potty on site, large pavilion, firepit and charcoal grills (If someone wanted to bring something else to cook). Just please be respectful of the grounds. The beach area is very shallow for the first 100 or so feet out into the bay so if you have kids that want to swim they are more than welcome to do so ( just watch out for jelly fish). Club will be providing the Crabs so we are asking people to RSPV either on this thread or with @TRDdrew up until the week prior to the event, so We can get an accurate head count for the crab purchase. This is a private event for CLCC dues-paying members and their families so if you want to attend make sure you're up to date on your dues ;)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!!!

The Good Woman and i will be there for sure! Let me know if we can help with set up and such.

EDIT: As discussed at last the 5/7 meeting, we are going to incorporate a potluck aspect to this event, the club is buying crabs and some sides, if you would like to bring something to share with the club please post up in this thread on what you are bringing, so we don't end up with 13 potato salads lol

I can not make this event!

My wife and I will probably pick up a pie or 2 from Costco.

We'll bring snickerdoodles

I count 22 RSVPs so far in this thread, we want to have a firm head count by 1 June, so thank you to all of you that responded already. There will be lots of fried fish and shrimp, crab balls, mac-n-cheese, collard greens, hush puppies, and potatoes. If you are kind enough to bless us with your favorite cole slaw, salad, bbq-type side dish, or dessert our feast will be even feastier!

We will either bring cole slaw or tres leches cake.

My wife and I have to unRSVP. My wife doesn’t like using our family shared calendar. So we were double booked for that day.

Well it's a shame she won't be joining us.... But we look forward to seeing you since you made the RSVP with the information gathered from the correct sources. 😁

My uncle used to catch them by the score in Va beach and would take the wings by the 5 gallon bucket and sell them to chinese restaurants. That was the scallops that you ate on the menu.
