I've recently moved to Cambridge, MA and am looking for people in my area who have a project cruiser or two and need a helper-mechanic. I'm ok with a wrench, my recent projects on my 60 series include a inner axle seal/wheel bearing/knuckle bearing job and a fuel pump replacement (SBC in that 60). On my brothers buick I've replaced the transaxel (what a crap job that was). In the past I've done electric fan installs (easy) to motor removal to head gasket replacement, to carb rebuilds on tractors. I'm looking to for some friendly people who would be open to trade my labor for access to their home-shop where I could do some work on my 60 as things progress. Jobs I'd like to do on my cruiser in the future include Tuffy Center consol install, replace the seals on tranny and transfercase, rear engine seal. Ive to some hand tools, pneumatic tools and a compressor, a few good stories of doing archaeology in Central America and the US and a few beers. Cheers!

what are you trying to trade?

Your message states your skills, but perhaps I missed what you are trying to trade for?

If you want to get paid as a mechanic and this LARGLY depends on the amount of standard tools and specialty tools and experiance, advertise your services at least 50% under shop rates.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking to get paid per se, rather to get a access to a shop from time to time, work on other peoples cruisers, learn, make some friends and have some fun. I'm looking for a friendly arrangement so I can help people with their projects and when it comes time, I could put my 60 up on blocks a few days to do mime. Sorry it was confusing before.... I hope this clarifies.

We might be able to work something out. But... I don't own a Cruiser.

I'm doing a total frame-off on my mini-truck, I'm gonna need some help this spring with the body prep for painting. I can't pick up the cab by myself, that kind of thing. I'm working on the engine tear-down now, might be taking the block to a machine shop in the next week or so, still deciding how to go.

My garage is pretty well complete (but not heated), so I doubt you'd need to bring any tools. I've done all the jobs you've described on my previous '62, so I'd be happy to give you a hand.

But I'm about 90 minutes away. You should post up in the Yankee Toys section to see if there's someone closer.

PM sent KLF.
