well I finally broke my first pinion. I was hopping ona a rock came down and bang. I know this happened mostly because of axle wrap. So first thought in my head is Dana60FF. Am I silly to think I could still use my cruiser diff with a track bar/ cryoed r&p and still have it as strong as a 60? Maybe add chromo shafts?

thoughts?

thanks Dan

If you do not build a strong anti-wrap bar to end the axle rotating when under load, it does not matter what axle you decide to use, you will destroy pinions because of the drive shaft binding up at the u-joint on the differential end.

I would build a strong anti-wrap bar, install a good differential and call it good.

Right. I have abused my FJ40 that is SOA like this one and the key to keeping the pinion healthy is a strong, overbuilt anti-wrap bar. The alternative is a 4 link which is much more work and effort.

This truck looks like it has worn springs, so it wrapped up and broke. Happens every year at Rubithon, when someone thinks they can get by without a wrap bar.
