Cruiser Outfitter's 55-Specific Suspension Kit - Advice Please

I’ll have my “3 leaf removed” setup installed in 48 hours and we can see what difference it makes.

If you guys truly want to compare apples to apples note how much fuel is in the tank at the time you take the measurements.

With three leaves removed the difference between full and near empty tank was significant (pre-runner to stink bug ) I carry a bit more fuel than you guys but still worth noting.

Haha. Yeah I guess so. I’m not sure how he is set up weight wise either. Mine is empty with a stock rear bumper. Full tank. More soon. Stuff is on the truck to my house.

Will break in more and settle but that is 4” lift from my old clapped out springs.

I think if I do a simple bumper with swingout and add a winch it will settle down on both ends.

I’ve got a pile of leaf springs I can add back as needed.

I already had the shackles and spring pins from you from about a year ago.

Got a few miles on the 55 suspension and it really rides great. I’m happy with it so far.

One thing I will say is that the rear shocks (I’m assuming they are FJ60 rear shocks) are not long enough to let the suspension drop out.

That said, I have not unhooked the sway bar to see if it is the sway bar limiting the droop as well. I know it’s the shock.

My pig is a 1977 and the shock bottoms attach to the bottom of the unbolt plates.

My 68 FJ40 has the rear shock mount bottom on the axle housing.

I’m considering moving my rear shocks to this position and seeing how they do.

Where did you find that hardware for the shock mount? Does that come with the kit? I haven't dug that deep yet into the box of goodies.

No. I had them. They came with some kit in the past. Not sure how long I’ve had them.

It won’t take long. I need to drill out the hole in the back of the perch to fit the large end into the hole but that won’t take much.

I measured for shock length on both front and rear and Kurt was able to get me the correct length OME shocks, from what I remember they were different from what he sent in the kit but I don’t remember why.

Shocks work better the more vertical they are. One reason I’m sure that Toyota moved them down to the plate but the angle is not that bad moving them up.
