At the Christmas party at Rob’s December 9, 2023, there was some preliminary agreement of setting Saturday August 10, 2024 in Squamish for the next Cruiser Days.

Following the Cruiser Days meetup and Saturday night camp out (yet to be planned), I suggest we do the Windy Ridge Trail for our annual Chilcotin adventure fix.

Last August 2023 we found the long lost trailhead (after many earlier tries over the years), but had to backtrack due to the heavy trail clearing and lack of time and resources. The trail has since been arduously pushed through by another group (thanks guys!), which should make our upcoming trip much less labor intensive and more enjoyable.

This post should give sufficient notice for those with family obligations to plan for this event, if so inclined.

I had planned on heading from the Okanagan to the Sunshine Coast the week before that date, so this could really work well for me. Thanks for the advance notice!

I have submitted the application to SD48 for the HSS parking lot and field for Aug 10, 2024 for CRUISER DAYS!

We are confirmed with SD48 for the HSS parking lot (same location as last year) in Squamish for August 10!

We will be raffling a fridge again this year at Cruiser Days!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all taking advantage of the great weather. Just inquiring since Cruiser Days is not far off. I am enquiring if there is going to be an over nighter after cruiser days would like to know if this is going to happen? Where is the camping spot? Also there was a discussion about another run after the one nighter is this still in the works? Would like more information on where this is and how many days, also how many will be attending? Sorry for asking so many questions but trying to coordinate my time if this is going to happen? We will see you all in Squamish in four weeks. Mike😎

Hi Mike, the answer is yes to both questions. I'm not involved in either plan, so we'll wait for others to chime in.

We are famous for deciding at the show, so you'll have to bear with us! :)

Windy Ridge
The extended trip ( 5-7 days) after the one nighter for Cruiser Days is conditional on the number of trucks committed to coming. The reason is we need a minimum number of people with chainsaws and shovels to get through.

Here's Glenn's trip report title to search from last year...

Squamish-Soo-Yalakom-Poison-Churn-Farwell Trip (Aug 12-18, 2023)

It would be possible to drive from Squamish to Lillooet up to French Bar Creek campsite. Then do Chinahead from east to Poison, and then on to Windy Ridge into Yodel and out Churn.
I'm interested in this trip.

Shhh.... Crickets!

I’m 99% out for the week long trip this year. I hope to do the one night camp out the day of Cruiser Days.

I will be at Cruiser days and the one nighter, but not the Windy Ridge bushwhacking trip (this year). I may continue on for a night or two to Carol Lake to swim and laze in the shade.

Thanks Glen for the up dated info. Did you get any commitments from any of the club members interested doing Windy Ridge?? You first posted Dec 18/ 2023 this was not a last minute organized trip. I was at the 4Wheel Drive Show n Shine and there was only 4 Coastal Cruisers members that attended which l was shocked with the lack of club members attendance. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance. Mike

I will be at the Cruiser Days show and an overnighter. John V. will join me as well.
See you at Squamish.

Hi Mike, For the past 15 years, the campout location has been discussed and decided at the show, so any talk ahead of time this year is a real bonus :)

Sorry about that, our club is much smaller now (25 members from all over BC). Some members like to plan ahead (a Glenn trip is always well planned), but others is more of let's see what happens.

With years of experience of unpredictable trail conditions, weather, wheeler experience and other factors encountered on trips; the only thing that we accept must be scripted is the date and start time. In this case, Aug 10, 5pm after the show ends.

Hi All. I'd posted a rough plan based on Glenn's trip last year after the event as this was what was discussed in Dec.
As Rob posted, plans are usually made day of event, and in the past have been an overnighter.
So, this time a number of our crew can't make it due to other commitments, and some are only available for one or two nights due to work / family duties.
That said, we are talking of overnighting on Hurley (possibly Gwyneth Lake rec site on Sat night - yup, it's a long drive and we'll roll in late). Option A; Sunday evening possibly at Schwartz. Monday out to Poison Mtn, some can go out via Yalakom to head home. Others may want to do Chinahead if conditions permit (smoke/weather/Chilcotin River flow). Other option B is Mt Truax on Sunday, and overnight in alpine. After that anyone's guess.
I'm not making any firm plans for this at all though.

Thanks Rob. This has answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks again. Mike😎
