Hi there, Toyota South Africa released there 60 year anniversary special addition 70 series cruisers this month.
They come in the dark wine red and a dark black / charcoal color. This in both the pick-up & Station Wagon. It also comes with a lot of extra bells & whistles.
Thought I will post some pics...

Does anyone know if these models were also released in other countries...?

They come with built in GPS, Bluetooth for your phone, leather seats, airbags, and I think the pick-up also comes out with the chrome bumper in the front & with nice step plates on the side.
But the engines are still the same.

That's all only. No alloy rim, No overfender:p

Yes front & rear!! And the pick-up comes with the additional fuel tank!!!

Pick Up

I see the pick up has a V6 badge on the back, are they a v6 petrol engine?? I was not aware of this model - it is not one we can get in New Zealand. Personally i prefer the v8 Diesels we get here - but was curious about the v6 specs. I see its the new shape 70 series, which we have had here since 2007, how long have they been that shape in South Africa?

Heres what Toyota NZ are doing for the 60th Anniversary of Land Cruiser.

Toyota New Zealand - LC Offer

Hi there, I think that shape has been here from about the same time.
Over here we get the 79 pick-up in the V6 petrol 1GR-FE motor, and then in the straight 6 1HZ Diesel motor, we also have the 76 Station Wagon in the Diesel motor & the Troopy also came last year.
We all wish for a Turbo on the Diesel. What size motors do you get over there in the Pick-Up?

1 HZ in any format is no more, the last was the 79 series diesel with EFI and turbo.

The only choice here is the turbo inter cooled V8 ( 1VD-FTV ) Essentially the same truck that the Australian Market get with slight different cosmetics

Welby does your 79 have the button H4 or is it on the shift stick

Do they come with turbo's..?

here not .. just plain 1HZ engine right now .. it's a matter of price I thought .. dunno what they are planning to do when Toyotja stop 1HZ production.

I do not think they will ever change them over here in South Africa / africa as the diesel over here is not very good and land cruisers are bigger then sliced bread threw out africa especially the 70 series.
They are hopefully launching the new F.J later this year.
Has N.Z got the new 60 anniversary special additions?

What about the interior features?? Any power window,RPM gauge, show photos of the interior, Please!!:)

The 1 HZ I had was a button H2 to H4 as long as the hubs were in. The V8s have gone back to the stick H2 - H4 - N - L4. H2 at the top L4 at the bottom. I never had any problems with getting in and out of 4WD with the old 1 HZ, but I had heard of problems, ( vacuum operated??) The V8s appear to have done away with that system - but I'm not sure if its the same system just operated by the stick

No nothing different over here with the 60th anniversary, the trucks are the same. just the blurb below on the Toyota NZ web site.

The FJs have just been introduced here, been here for a few months. Toyota are running 1 (with a 76 V8 in support) from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island, about a 1000klms

2 models over here the standard model with Split rims, steel steps, black plastic bumper, manual windows, vinyl floor and seats and the cruddy passengers seat,

LX model has cloth buckets seats, carpet on the floor, cloth (sort of) door liners, electric windows, Aircon, storage bins, drink bottle holders, awesome alloys - big wide 8 or 9 inch ones, chrome trim, optional twin lockers ( Awesome also).

Both trucks and wagons share the same engine, and come standard with factory snorkel which I think is actually a Safari snorkel, with the option of a alloy deck ( Not awesome) and 3.5 tonne towbar which is horribly expensive. The spit rims are good and strong, but very narrow ( 6inch) and standard OME tyres which are also extremely poor. The LX comes with 265/75 all terrains, - I went straight to the tyre shop and changed them for 285/75 BFG muddies, immediate and cheap 50mm lift - although BFGs are not cheap, but they are an excellent tyre. I'm on my second set (KM2s) and would not run anything else.
