Matt, How is that chuck wagon coming along? :D I understand that the only additional support that Koko had last year was someone bringing extra fuel for the vehicles on the last night (very cool that they were willing/able to do that), something that I think could be avoided this year. Leader/gunner could also bring more than they need. I would be willing to bring an extra 20 gallons or so.

If this is indeed something that we can take on, there is nothing saying that we have to run it the same way that it was run in previous years. What I was trying to get at with a "support crew' is that most of the camping areas are close to a major road and the crew could be there with dinner already cooking or something. Just one example, and would depend on what people would want to help with. The sky is the limit as long as we comply with the permit.

Thanks for the info. PM Sent!

Sorry, my Mud PM box has been full for years and years. At one time I had a 500 message limit, then it suddenly went to 50. I have talked with Woody about in in person several times, our best guess is that something got buggered up during an upgrade/migration. In any case, I just haven't taken the time to go in there and delete a bunch of messages, and he hasn't upped my limit.

I have asked the Rising Sun webmaster, Matt Farr (who is also the TLCA webmaster) to please set me up with an email with the cruisemoab.com domain, something like trails at cruisemoab.com or similar. That way whoever else might take over trail assignments in the future would have webmail archives of previous communications.

In the mean time, you can send me a direct email at jeff (at) rzeppa.org or if you like the vBulletin PM system, I have plenty of room over on the Rising Sun forum.

It would be beneficial if Robbie or Chris would get in this discussion.
After my conversation with Robbie, I would NOT count on him as a resource. Maybe, maybe not, but he made it clear to me that he is not going to be involved in CM2013 in any way.

I know a lot of people named Chris, which one are you referring to?

I believe the main person to answer these questions will be permit guru Neil Quigley. I will post up in the private CM committee section of the Rising sun forum, but I'll also ping him direct about this thread. He might choose to answer these questions right here.

Jeff. I PMed you on the RS forum. I look forward to talking with you. I'll follow up with an email as well.

Was thinking about Chris Davis as he has been a part of the Koko run since the first.

No Chuck Wagon! headed another direction, long story!! Koko run sounds fun I may be able to be convinced to do some cooking for the run!

Jeff,

I know Fins & Things, Hell's Revenge and would be comfortable gunning on either.

Hello Jon/All,
The Kokopelli is different from The swell, in that the real limiting factor is the number of camper's.. on the Swell we were limited by our normal Permit limit of 20 Vehicles per trail per day "running the Trails"...
With the Kokopelli the negotiated limit was reached because of the impact of camping on this trail. So the support, while it may be feesable, may not be able to camp with the group on the trail.. This should not really be a big issue especially on the second night, because as you said it is close to roads, and close to moab. I am the one that brought out the fuel last year, so i know how quick it is to be back in Moab....
All of that said, we are looking at changing the second night's camp spot to Roberts Bottom (before rose garden hill), so that Rose garden can be done in the morning when everyone is fresh... If we do that, we will have to be EXTRA vigilant aboutthe use of Porta potties (which i do not see as a problem).. The change in camping location was a sugestion from Robbie i have been trying to negotiate with the BLM.... If that comes about, then the second night there may be the better spot for any dinner plans... we may be able to get an additional vehicle approved for camping, but since it will not be a primitive campground, nothing as elaborate as what the swell does will be able to be done... Think Primitive camping experience...

When i spoke to Jeff i also indicated that Boyd (From California) may be able to Lead or Gunn the trail.. At the very least he could be a participant that KNOWS it VERY well... And those of you who know him, know he is a great guy (nice to have a life guard on the trail for his medical expertise)..

As for this trail, there will be one leader and one gunner, and the rest of the trail participants are selected on a first signed up basis (making sure the participants are capable in Rig and Skill), with a waiting list of 4 or so deep in case of cancellations..... on the Swell we allowed 3 Wasatch participants because of the larger number of participant slots available....

Hope that helps some... :)

Cheers,
Neil.

After re-reading this i meant to say..

we may be able to get an additional vehicle approved for camping, but since it will not be a Large established campground like they use on the Swell (with a pit toilet close by), nothing as elaborate as what the Swell group does will be able to be done... Think Primitive camping experience...

Thanks for all that info Neil! I've meet Boyd and did a run with him 2 years ago at CM11. Great guy like you said.

Oh, okay. I haven't talked to him about CM2013. My impression is that he may or may not attend this year.

Hi Neil it was great meeting you and thanks again for hauling fuel out for us!

Ryan

FYI - For anyone interested in this trip and fuel consumption I made the entire route on a single tank in a bone stock FJ. There was another FJ along with full skids, bumpers, roof rack and TRD Supercharger and he burned through two full tanks. I think just about every vehicle except myself, the 80's with Aux tanks and the Diesel 80 from Canada needed extra fuel to complete this trip.

I've created a planning thread for the Behind the Scenes stuff. If you are a BCC member and wish to help out please PM me and I will send you directions.

Hi all, I am populating the tables in my database, and have discovered that in some instances I either only have Mud screen name, or first name. If, when posting that you can lead or gun a particular trail, if you don't have you first AND last name in your sig line, would you kindly put it in the body of your post! Thanks so much and happy cruisin'!

I see from the TLCA/Cruise Moab thread that our club is now leading the Kokopelli overniter. Great!

I see from the TLCA/Cruise Moab thread that our club is now leading the Kokopelli overniter. Great, but now how do we decide who's going to assist on the run. I know a lot of our members would like to do it but we will be limited by the permit. Face off at dawn?

Let's take the discussion about who's who and permitting to the planning thread.

User CP > Group Memberships > Scroll to "BCC Events" > Click the "Join Group" button on the right > Scroll to the bottom and click "Join Group"

I checked and you can access it on a mobile device through your web browser.

Ok on that, guess I forgot about the "classified thread". Every time I access MUD through my browser the Ap freezes up and then I have to delete it and reload again. Not insurmountable but still a real PITA.
