Cruise Control (1 Viewer)

When i bought this Fj 62 cruiser it already had a cruise control setup in it but it didn't work. I took some pictures of it to see if any has it and knows how the wiring should be. I have some picture of the wiring and what i believe to be some type of speedo. I know its getting power because when i turn on my head lights the light on the face comes on.

I had a similar unit on my 83 FJ-60 You see the paint wear on the drive shaft immediately below the speed pickup? There should be a small magnet mounted there. Just us a small magnet and attach it with a plastic tie strap. I bet that is your problem.

Ok, one of the wires coming off the speed pickup seems to be a ground right? because it is not grounded to anything (i know i already tried grounding it and it still didn't work so i unbolted it just in case it was for something else), also the wire in my hand is a 9 amp wire and just past my hand to the left it is not conected to anything? I know i dont know what the heck the po did to this before me.

Thats what that tab is on my truck! I bent it away from the driveshaft because it was rubbing on the driveshaft years back. Now i know why the cruise control doesnt work. What size magnet is there supposed to be there?
My control looks different though, i have a little dangly plastic thing that hangs off the steering column and the controls are on that. Do you have a big drum looking thing hanging off your master cylinder with a cable running to the throttle?

Hi - it's a Dana cruise control.
If you have alook in th engine bay you'll find a big black box with a cable going to the throttle.
I had the same installed on an Aussie spec HJ61 (Turbo Diesel)

I'm having mine replaced for something that should control slightly better and takes up about 1/4 of the room !

Yeah wgw76gd, i am probably going to do the same thing, i think mine is busted for good and you are right it takes up a lot of room.
