Who is up for a Crozet Trip?

As Munky noted, there is an open weekend on July 16-18 which means anyone can go and just pay 30$ for the day.

OPEN WHEELING WEEKEND July 17-18 2010 - Rock Crawlers for the Preservation of Future Access (RCPFA)

If I do this one it would probably be on the Sunday so it is less crowded.


The other option is to pick a day that more people can make, also when there is not an Event. That way we have the place kinda to ourselves.
*Note that you will have to be a member, but thats only 25$

I'm putting Aug 7th out there as a possiblity. There is nothing on the Crozet calendar as of now for that date.

If you are concerned, as I was, about the difficulty there, remember that there are stock friendly trails that are still fun. Plus you can jump in with someone else on the harder trails.
The parking field is always just a few hundred feet away.
 
also @ anytime that a Crozet trip is planned, if nothing is going on already then it has to be cleared with Chris. Not hard of a task to do just need a week or so headsup via PM or email. Anyone that has not been before that wants to join i would say that going for the Open Wheeling Events is a great way to check out the place without any obligation to join. Im not trying to say dont join but if you check it out and decide you dont want to join then you dont have to. On the Open Wheeling Events there will be trail guides, and normally the people that are all the same mod level in a pack.

We will have no trail guide is assigned at the time that we all go up, per say, its not required if its just a few of us. Then i have a map that can be printed out. We can do whatever we want at whatever speed if we are really the only ones on the trails. AT least 2 trucks together at ALL times, but if not everyone wants to do something then we can break up into smaller groups. EVERYONE should have a tow strap, I have a winch so not to worried about anyone getting stuck.

I think we would have plenty of time to get the OK if we get some folks to go on the non open event.

Do I understand correctly that someone can join if they come with a member, even on non event days?

Plus I saw a thread about allowing people to join for $10 for July/Aug if they get the 2010/11 membership. That way you dont get stuck for a 1 month membership.
 
not sure about the fees for the last bit of the year.

YES anyone can join at anytime they just have to fill out the wavier, and App to join. As Long as you have a Member in good standing as your Reference. which we have 4 members here so that should not be an issue for anyone.
 
If you all could stand me I may want to join in :-), I would be coming from Richmond. I have a couple of friends that have jeeps that would be newbies but if there are stock friendly trails they may be up for it.

yes there are some stock friendly trails, and the parts that are not so stock friendly have bypasses. last month there was a lot of stock jeeps running around
also you talking about joining or going to the open run?

I would be interested in the August run. I live about 15 minutes from Crozet. Let me know when this is set in stone and I will put it on the books. Would want to join so may need one of you all to help me with that.

Not getting any bites on the Open Weekend.
The NC guys (ONSC) are up there that weekend but I think they already have some other events planned.

Havent heard from Mike yet. I know he said July was out.

I'd say lets plan on the Aug7 and see who we can get to go.

Yeah, we're going to be up in the Sherando Lake area, just hanging out. Nobody wanted to check Crozet out, well we had takers, but most had planned on just an easy going trip... Anyone in the area, we're at Sherando Lake Family Camp...

Keep in mind we're back up your way in October for our Harvest Haul 2010, MATLCA is invited to join us and show us around!

Hey Beau,
I'm still planning on going. I'm just looking at 1 day, prob SAT.
Right now, the truck is down with the PS Box off for repair, but I expect to have it back up next weekend.

I've been trying to get some others to go but havent had any success yet.
I do have a friend that may have his 62 back on the road by then and may come.

I'll PM the 2 guys from that posted above to see who's still up.
 
right on man, im down with just me and you going dave would like for a couple more people to get out there though. a buddy of mine might go that lives down the street, and wes was saying he might go the other night

We should probably go ahead and clear the date with Chris before doing so, I guess.
 
T4W or DSO I guess. Just an idea to get more folks.
Maybe the NC yota guys but its a bit far for them.
