Hi all,

New here, but active on the Tacoma forums. My son now has my 2G Tacoma and the automotive disruptions have made its replacement a never-ending cross shopping journey. Sharing for fun, who else has multiple deposits?

First - Had a reservation on an F150 Lightning. Then Ford locked the extended range with other options and an XLT penciled out @ $82K. Cancelled and rolled the deposit into a Bronco Wildtrak order.

Then Ford couldn’t give a build date and to get a build date I was advised to drop the options I wanted (Lux, Hard Top, Towing). I chose not to drop configuration and got tired of that game. When I saw the GX/250 announcements and decided that @ $70K+ OTD the quality of material in the Bronco was lacking. Cancelled that and got deposit back in August. Funny thing is now that the UAW is on strike Ford sends me an email my truck has a VIN and is ’in production’. I’m glad to skip the strike-built unit.

Currently have refundable deposit on both GX550 and LC250. Planning on trying for a Tacoma Trailhunter position as well. Personally really like thought of the hybrid in the LC250/Trailhunter. My near term use case is ~400 mile round trip for trout fishing in/around Sequoia and, going south, trips to Ensenada/Baja. So I really like the potential of the 25mpg, 325hb/450lbft of torque and 8 speeds. While the 4.0L in the 2G Tacoma was adequate it was really a compromise and a mediocre performer. Sucked gas, noisy, to few gears and to tall of final drive. I will admit I had full confidence in it and it was very well maintained so I had no issues with it holding 5,000 rmp when climbing mountain passes.

We have a 5th gen RX350h in the household. Drives great, consistently 36mpg everywhere, generally quiet, seamless gas/electric integration. Why I fully appreciate this is not the same drivetrain as the above, it gives me high hopes for the coming hybrids.

My brother had a 100 series, now has a 200 series. I’ll be really interested in comparing to his truck.

Hi all!

And, when I get enough posts, I’ll clean up my typos. :-)

Hi all!
You made a wise decision abandoning the Ford circus, lack of quality and poor reliability, I did the same thing.

Since you mention Tacoma, this might be very good news to combat inflation. 2023 Corolla are also $1200 less than previous. They might sense the issue with affordability and also want to fight Tesla that keep lowering their price by employing smarter more cost effective manufacturing techniques.

Had a Wildtrack reservation then got a Golden Ticket for a Raptor and the dealer added $20K to the price. Complained to FMC and nothing. Canceled. Never buying a Ford again.

I’ll give my dealer credit for mine being at MSRP with refundable discount. No MSRP+$$$ shenanigans. And, I have gotten my deposit back.

Ford still thinks the truck is coming to me (the dealer happily takes it and resells). Looked up my VIN and the truck that would have been mine is on the factory floor, but hasn’t moved with the UAW strike. No beef with the UAW/Ford negotiations, welcome to capitalism. Not sorry to cancel the Bronco.

I am in a cross shopping position myself as well. I currently have a Genesis G70 with lease coming up in November of next year. Previously had a F150 Platinum that was riddled with all the common issues(phaser failure, wastegate rattle). I loved the truck but it was just way too big. Now I have opposite that with a small sedan. We have been getting by with our Ascent but I really need something with utility. I don’t want a full size truck and would prefer to stay away from a unibody suv. I have fallen for the new Tacoma and Land Cruisers. Now just need to wait and see what pricing looks like and if the backseat of the Tacoma will sit my 2 boys without being uncomfortable for multi hour drives north.

Had a Bronco reservation, they finally build mine but it was without some of the packages I initially ordered so I passed. They tried to get me to order another but I easily declined. Couldn't find a 392 without any sort of extortionist dealer markup so I'm waiting on a 250LC or a GX550. Hopefully I can get one of those that works, otherwise I'll consider the new Tacoma in some form.

Have had a 60 series, 80 series and am currently driving a 100 series so I'm interested to see how the new ones compare.
