I just realized I only got one card-style key with my OT. I basically got 2 regular key fobs and one cardkey. I am old school and use the regular key fob (though having the app in the phone also works as a key), so, technically I carry 2 keys with me all the time.

So, it's not that I use the card really, but should I have received two of those?

i only got one as well. I also have one for my wife's LX and one for my 200 series. It is very handy though I find it isn't as responsive for the door locks vs using the key fob.

Both for the GX and LX received:
  • Credit card key
  • 2 key fobs

2024 LX600, delivered in May 2024. We got two fobs and one cardkey delivered with the truck. The second fob was delayed, and we didn't get it until the October time frame.

For our 2023 IS500, I recently purchased and had programmed a credit card key for that car, which only came with two fobs. My wife prefers the credit card keys. It was nearly $700 for the part and the programming, including the spare physical key that slides into the credit card.

Yeah, 1 car, 2 fobs for me too. I ask the dealer if I want another card key, it'll be another $420 or something ridiculous.

I almost use my card key exclusively. It's just in wallet. Grab and go. Nothing bulky fob bulging in my skinny jeans. 😆

I have credit card keys for my 200 and 23 Tundra. Programmed both w Techstream. Found a locksmith in Brazil to get me a rolling code remotely to program the Tundra. Tacoma comes with one but Tundra does not. But Tundra does come with a free replacment engine in specially marked packages.

Awesome not worrying about finding and carrying keys. Now I just have to remember where I put my damn wallet down...

Out of curiosity, can the LC200 be programmed with card key too?

I believe so. People have figured out how to get them to work the 3rd gen Tacomas also.

For the taco's you just have to make sure the central lock brain is compatible and then find a new unused keycard for the highest chance of success.

Yes. Easy to program with Techstream. I programmed them on a 2011 and a 2016 LC using Lexus keys.

Programmed a Tacoma cc key on my 23 Tundra and it is more difficult to do yourself with online rolling codes Toyota now requires unless you have a special bypass tool.

I keep cc keys for my LC and Tundra in my wallet.

Where did you source the credit card key?

I had never even considered using the credit card key until I saw this thread.
I have now achieved a complete single point of failure. Keys, license, credit card and phone together.
If I ever do lose it, I’ll just jump off a cliff.
It is quite convenient.
