Well I have been hearing some creaks when going slowly up and down my driveway, curbs, etc.

I thought it was maybe the OME shocks, maybe the springs, but nope.

It was after some trial and error that I firgured out it was the Total Chaos Upper Control Arms. They need to be greased about every 500-700 miles. So I greased them up and no more sounds....BUT there was a new creak I have never heard before.

It seems that the Icon Rear control arms are the culprit this time. They need to be greased up also (didn't think they would need that so quickly) and they have zerks also BUT they are are at a very odd angle so I may have to remove the tire to do them.

I will have a look this weekend and let you all know what happens.

These are race parts that are not really necessary. Just one more thing to worry about. This is why my install is using neither part. Also, I'm in dusty conditions all the time.

I personally would just remove them.

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but... What kind of maintenance has been necessary for the Icon Rear Trailing arms?

i do have a "knock" sound at the oddest of times, and i am wondering if it is indeed my icon rear trailing arm. i've booked my car to go into service on 11 April and will have them check/lube them.

Is this for real? Every 2-3 tanks of gas you have to grease the UCAs? Is it just me or does that sound horrible?

I have 15k on mine and no sound, no grease yet. Probably should I guess at this point.

Thanks for the feedback! I have a set NIB (billet rear trailing arms) that I am debating whether to install. Seemed like a bulletproof upgrade at first glance, but deeper research has got me questioning... It does appear that some revision may have been made to the rear joint compared to other pics I've seen, but hell if I know.

I am certainly not looking to create any BS problems with my rig, only upgrades that will enhance durability and/or reliability in any given circumstance I may encounter.

If the part moves, and it is not an internally shearing rubber bushing, it needs grease and a seal. For that reason, I rarely use open heim joints/rod ends on any of my projects or parts... I like things to last.
