I have a '14 LX 570 and have read here that putting it into both 4LO and crawl mode occasionally is good practice. I have no problem getting it into 4 LO ( neutral and then flipping the switch to 4 LO) but am having difficulty getting it into crawl mode. My understanding is that you put it into 4 LO, the put it into D or R and switch the switch down into crawl mode. It goes into the lowest setting next to crawl mode but won't go into crawl mode. Am I missing something or do I need to have someone take a look at it? I'm planning in getting out into the desert this spring and hope I won't need crawl mode but it never hurts to be prepared.
What says the Mud brain trust?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I’m not familiar with the ‘14, but with ‘16+, you have to push the crawl control button too. See starting about minute 40 in this video or read the owners manual.

You just turn on crawl mode with the crawl mode button. It doesn’t matter where the speed selector switch is. Take your foot off the brake (when in D) and you should crawl at the speed you have selected. If the truck makes a loud racket and you move, you are in crawl mode. Should be indicated on cluster as well.

This. I thought I broke something the first time I engaged crawl mode. Nope. Just normal “racket” from the mechanical bits doing their thing.

Yeah, used it once, thought grenaded a CV, freaked out, found nothing wrong, Mud Folks informed me I’m a moron and that’s normal.

Yeah…. I won’t be using the crawl feature again, ever. Just drive the thing

Also you really want to be doing the center diff lock and 4low - crawl is just the master cylinder doing crazy stuff

Sounds like you're doing everything right. The required part I didn't see you note was to press and hold the brake and be at a full stop, then press the button to activate.

Center diff lock is not required but recommended. Selecting 1 gear in sport is also not required but recommended, especially in a steep decline.
