Hi guys, is there any way to upgrade Tlc 200 2008 and install crawl control system in it?
I know there is versions with this system and without, my tlc is without and I'm just thinking what is better install lockers or crawl system(if it is possible).

LC 200 without CRAWL? What country are you in? Is your diesel?

I'm from New Zealand, yes it is diesel V8. Have a look at the picture, please.

Lockers are more reliable than a crawl control system and better when you really need every bit of traction you can get.

Crawl control may work better in very soft sand or snow. I have crawl control and it does work pretty good. Going up a steep hill with little traction I would prefer lockers.

Sorry mate but I don't think lockers are more reliable than a crawl control system. The crawl control is used ABS which is base manufacturer added system in a car. This system just distributes torque on the wheels using brakes. But anyway, it just only questions about is it possible to upgrade or not.

Not to mention, it’s possible OP can have most of the performance of lockers with very little cost if the logic and hardware is there already.

Have you looked to see whether the wiring for the switch is there in the console? Did australian market 200s of the same year have Crawl?

If I had the choice I’d chose lockers. Crawl works great but is NOISY. Seriously it is so obnoxious that I’d never use it unless it was a last resort. If you’re going to need additional traction beyond normal 4x4 low range often, Lockers will be much more pleasant than CRAWL.

for me, I have found CRAWL to work perfectly and flexibility as I navigate a trail. Noisy. Sure. But I got used to it quickly. But damn it works great over pretty much any surface where you don’t need to go fast.

Seriously...too noisy? It’s not like you use crawl cruising down the road for hours, if that bothers you then you probably should have bought a highlander. Crawl is sort of a last resort and I’m pretty sure even in the manual there is a pretty short time limit on how long you are supposed to use it.
I use CRAWL a few times a year and every time for just a few minuets to save me. About the same frequency I used the front and rear lockers in my g wagon I had prior. And I’ll agree that if possible to add would theoretically be less expensive and not at all inferior to lockers.

i’m not sure i’d want to pay a few thousand dollars to avoid some noise coming from my truck.

Check out the GX forums, I know they have several threads about adding Crawl Control since finding a GX with factory crawl control is extremely difficult.

I think you missed my point. I've had both, and if I had to spend the same amount on lockers or CRAWL, I'd prefer lockers. I'm not sure what part of this my preference means I should have bought a Highlander. CRAWL is a neat system, and does what it supposed to, and likely costs Toyota less than factory lockers to provide. If I didn't have it and needed it, I'd chose selectable lockers if the cost was similar. The noise is one definite difference in the two systems to me. Your opinion obviously differs and that's fine.

I wouldnt mind knowing this also. 2007/8 Aus and NZ Diesel Land Cruisers didnt get it but it was there post 2009. I wonder if it can be put in? The petrol versions did get it in 2007 but I read somewhere that diesel didnt in the early days because it would sometimes stall or something like that. I wouldnt mind it stalling on occasion if it got me out of a jam ... @Rus did you find out?
