The downpipes coming off my exhaust manifold are damn near shot and I'm gonna be needing new ones soon. Should I go for the larger MAF downpipes, or are those really just made for use with their headers and stock's the way to go?

I haven't checked with Cdan for the price of new stock pipes yet, and I'm also going to ask at the local exhaust shop about having pipes custom made that'll come down inside the frame and into the Y pipe before the muffler. I like this iption best, but I'd like to investigate more before my current pipes start getting holes.

I had a local exhaust shop cut the pipes right after the flanges and run custom pipes. Both pipes are inside of the frame rail and have flex sections in them. They run to a single dual entry/dual exit cat and the into a dual entry/single exit flowmaster. Everything's tucked up nice and high. The flowmaster is a touch louder than I'd like but still within reason. They put in new O2 bungs for aftermarket sensors but they could also have cut the bungs out of the stock pipes and welded them into the new ones (mine were too rusted for that though).
