I'm pretty sure all Craftsman tools come with a warranty, so how to you go about getting a tool replaced?

Just take the broken one, along with the new replacement to the counter at Sears and they normally just trade you out..
They were giving refurbs out, plus it depends which actual name is on it, ie; sears, craftsman....

We have a Fastenal in town, would they do the same as Sears?

I have bought old worn out Craftsman tools at garage sales for 25 cents before and had them replaced with new at Sears with no questions asked.

Just thought about it tonight when I went to use my 1/4" ratchet and it kept ratcheting and not holding. Just wanted to know if it was Craftsman policy to replace tools for free.
There was just a thread about this - but that's my understanding. I must not use mine enough because I've never had one break

Oh, didn't search....didn't think about it. It has always felt loose, and I guess it finally went out on me.
the last time I did it, they gave me a beat up refurb. I said where's the new one, he said this is all the do now.

I'll give fastenal a try, and if that doesn't go well...than sears better be good to me.
I have presented the broken tool to the person at the desk and they go get a new one and say "thanks".
The last one was a shattered 1/2 inch flex handle that did not survive a "starter-bump" on a 1FZ crank pulley bolt.

Hand tool only, not power tools. Last time I went in they gave me the choice between a referb and a new one (3/8 ratchet), I took the referb and that will be the last time I do that. It became really sloppy real fast. New from now on.
