My fJ60 is running well and has always run quite well - not always perfect, but darn near that. I know I have a crack at the EGR pipe flange. what's that doing to the performace/MPG, etc.?

It's been like that for a while, Just curious if I'll see any improvements when I put on the SS one I've been letting collect dust in the garage.

thanks!

It could result in a loss of vacuum. Do you here what sounds like an exhaust leak coming from it?

Can you post a pic of the area that is leaking.....I think I have the same problem.

What did you od to fix it?

check post #14

Lucky for us, spikestrip posted a good pic of this area...with the EGR pipe removed. there is also a gasket that goes there (~$8 from CDan). if you stand on the drivers side fender looking into the engine bay, find the exhaust down pipe...the egr pipe is like, "right there". from that pic in post #14, you'll know what you're looking at. you can also see it looking up from underneath. get under the DS leaf spring, and look up and to the outside of the car...you'll see the flange up there...

This is a timely post. My 60 has a leak and I determined it was because one of the studs is missing from the flange that bolts the tube to the exhauset manifold. So, I have a new bolt, and luckily the gasket is still there. However, the end of the tube that goes into the square finned box (is this the EGR cooler?) seems loose. Is there a gasket on this end too? If you haven't guessed, I haven't been able to loosen the big nut to find out fo rmyself.
