I changed my plugs, wires distributor, rotor and distributor O-ring today. It was hot, but it went well other than jacking with that #6 plug. I had a couple of questions about my experience. I'm an extreme amateur so these may be very basic questions.

1. I split the PCV hose at the end that goes into the valve cover. How big a deal is this? It still will go on. I'm sure it's not sealed well though.

2. When I started it after I was done it idled at like 1500 rpm then settled at around 1100. Let it run a while with no change. Turned it off restarted and it was idling around 600-750 rpm which is what I was used to.

3. How do my plugs look? I thought they looked ready to be changed.

At the minimum put some tape around the cracked hose for now. If it is letting un-metered air in, your computer will do all types of funky stuff to try and figure out what is going on. I did the same thing during my HG repair, a new how was about $15 from my dealer, so not a huge deal to replace.

Good to know. Thank you.

It wont hurt to disconnect the main computer fuse for a few minutes to reset the computer. It learns the right settings over several drive cycles, and if your tune up was needed, it may be helpful.

Plugs are cheap. So am I. You might as well replace them with the rest of the ignition components so it's all oem and fresh.

I did change the plugs. I was just wondering if the old plugs looked very bad. I went with Bosch plug wires, but everything else was oem.
